I got a pup(lab) a month ago, he's 3mo old now. I'm so tired 😩. all in all he's actually really smart and well behaved, it's just puppies in general are so much more work than you imagine before you get them lol. Potty training has been the easiest / smoothest part, which should illustrate what I mean.
Anyone got any advice for things like discouraging play biting/ going on walks / making him more confident and less fearful of stuff ?
Try to train a stop word like “HEY!” when they do something wrong. So whenever they hear that word they freeze when they doing something wrong.
Next time it does something wrong yell a word pretty loud and maybe give it a light smack on the nose or back.
Im raising a poodle puppy. Love this cute little s*** but he won’t stop biting me. Trying to figure out the best way to train him out of it
Not really too much advice to give, training a puppy is a simple but slow process.
It’s all about associating verbal cues or hand gestures with things and just continuously repeating it until they know.
Only advice I can give is good luck. My pup and I went to war for about two years but after some good training he turned out alright. Probably wanna look into getting him fixed to slow him down when he is of age

Got the same problem with my puppy rn, every f***ing time I try to put on his harness he goes wild and bites my fingers. I'd be so happy if he stops biting my hands and toes
A thing for the biting I do, is whenever he bites something he's not allowed to bite, instantly distract him with a toy, rope or something else he's allowed to bite.. works alright
When he bites, pretend like it hurts with a vocal ‘ow!’ It’s not gonna change overnight, because puppies are mouthy af in general.
When it comes to him being shy, I’d say that’s either a personality or socialization issue. Just get the pupper out more and you’ll have an idea of which side of the fence that issue lies.

Like this. This is reinforcing the behavior.

I try this and he keeps biting. When does it stop

Like I said, it’s not an overnight solution because puppies are mouthy in general. It’s how they touch/smell/recognize their surroundings at first. But I can assure you that acting like the bites hurt is going to do more good than harm in the long term
Expect the mouthiness to cool down close to 12 months.
Puppies can be a bit difficult sometimes not even playing right now, kyrie irving

Yeah I do this and it works, even though he still nips when playing he is becoming more and more gentle. The problem is when he gets into "crazy hyperactive mode" when he is tired or overstimulated, then all those learnings go out the window and he is trying to bite my leg while i am in the middle of picking up his poop Lol
