Yeah I do this and it works, even though he still nips when playing he is becoming more and more gentle. The problem is when he gets into "crazy hyperactive mode" when he is tired or overstimulated, then all those learnings go out the window and he is trying to bite my leg while i am in the middle of picking up his poop Lol

lmao yeah that’s just puppy s***. Routine is key so they can get the experience they need to mature and grow

i’m also training a feral demon we call a puppy

toilet training is mostly smooth but teaching him not to jump on s*** is the worst
he’s also very bitey but his is probably worse cause teething and his breed

Ive got a 7 month old golden and shes mostly stopped biting on her own, its 75% something they grow out of but also you gotta put in work for that 25%

When he bites, pretend like it hurts with a vocal ‘ow!’ It’s not gonna change overnight, because puppies are mouthy af in general.

When it comes to him being shy, I’d say that’s either a personality or socialization issue. Just get the pupper out more and you’ll have an idea of which side of the fence that issue lies.

this works it just takes time

making sure he has plenty of toys to chew on

i like the kong toys because you can make him work for the treats and they're very durable. nylabones too.

depending on how smart he is the puzzle toys are great as well

working on impulse control helps a lot. I didn't even use a food bowl for almost a full year that I had my puppy. Gave him his kibble throughout the day when he was behaving. ex. when I took him on a walk when he was walking by my side properly i'd give him a bit of kibble. Also used the kibble for basic training. Sit, down, stay, leave it. Run through the basics every day.

Never pet him unless he's sitting. Don't let him outside unless he's sitting. He'll learn to sit to ask you for stuff.

Like this. This is reinforcing the behavior.

I've read it and heard it in so many places but apparently you know better. I've also tried the "Ow" but that doesn't do anything he'll just think I'm enjoying it

for biting i used to just give a small tap on like the nose and say no with some base in my voice. After a while they figure out that means stop, especially if you consistent with it and use it for other bad behavior stuff.

for the socializing like somebody else said you should just take him to dog parks or even other people and let him do his thing, within reason

my pit was pretty anti social like he would f*** with you but unless he knew you fr, he would leave you alone unless you came to him

Play biting gotta be controlled. Learn about teaching bite inhibition from youtube.

Walks are easy, dont use a harness,a prong collar will teach him to walk on a leash faster.

And to be less fearful you gotta socialize, loud sounds, new areas, new animals, going to petco, petsmart or dog parks to socialize. (Make sure he has all his shots before taking him out.)

    Youtube is your friend.

Also if hes an aggressive chewer antlers will help a lot you can buy them in bulk on ebay.

Have chew toys with different textures ready to go for when hes chewing on stuff, tel him no loudly and gice him a toy with the same texture as whatever he was chewing on.
