I didn't invite no argument with y'all weird asses I asked if you been to the Airforce. If some of y'all had and didn't like it, then fine you could have stated your cases in a mature manner. Y'all attacked me like I'm the recruiter that wouldn't let you join, or the dude who banged your woman while you were deployed or something. Tried to say I'm immature when literally all of the responses were immature to an innocent question/thread

Oh ok. But yeah just been interested for a while. The navy is my 2nd choice, but heard life on them ships is kinda wack lol. Idk that might be cool too though low-key. I just want the experience tbh

Yeah man. If you were to go right after highschool at age 17 or 18, and do the full 20...man you could get that pension at around 37 or 38 lol. Imagine that. Get that nice pension that young, plus be able to transition your career to civilian life, like you alluded to. Yeah, definitely kinda makes you wish that's the route you went. I was thinking about the Navy after highschool back when they came to my school lmao. 20 years sounds like forever fresh outta high school, but you don't even realize you'll still be young asf after that if you get out at just under 40.

Idc though, tbh, I'm still young enough to where I'll be satisfied when I get out. If I decide to do the full 20. Have to see obviously if I'm feeling it like that

my neighbor lost his leg and that’s the only way he was able to leave the military

i know a lot of homeless people still fighting for their checks after service

like I said, if you smart with it, stack while you’re there and use that veteran status to your advantage in the corporate world down the road, you’ll be straight. especially if you not active duty, then you really eating. like my cousin is in the military and has a corporate job in Chicago partying every weekend lmfao

just wouldn’t bank on the pension is all I'm saying cause 20 years is a long time like you said but you’ll always have that veteran status even if you do just a year (although you can’t just change your mind LOL). it is a good trade off tho, if you get there and they honestly pay it out to you

Aren't they trying to cut the VA i haven't been keeping up with it

I've already heard complaints for years and depending what Trump admin ends up doing the benefits could be worse and worse if they even exist at all in the future

Sure some people have gotten what they needed from the VA, but it seems shaky, and especially if funding (or employees, rather) gets cut bc of "Waste"

The entire framework of how that s*** is even going to work might be different in FIVE years (shit... one!) not to mention 20 but who knows

Yeah for sure I hear you. Realistically I'm definitely not counting on doing 20 as that's a crazy commitment unless I happen to just love the experience that much. Though at my time in life it would make a lil more sense. But yeah, just all of the other benefits like you mentioned seems like it can definitely be worth it. I suppose the military (any branch a person may be interested in) is like everything else. Whatever you make of it. So that's the attitude I'll have if I decide to join, which I've been leaning towards doing.
