Gotdamn memory crisis really screwing over the whole industry, even Apple is getting pressed by it
They are usually cheap with the storage & memory but they'd been easing up on that a little bit lately

Maybe they would've fabbed a 12GB option otherwise (although part of the cost cutting for this is them reusing the 16PM chip which is 'mature' so the fab will have a much higher yield)

Memory crisis is so rough though, all the new Steam hardware is basically in purgatory
I bought some RAM in the summer & now it's worth a month's rent

although it is good that it will delay the next generation of consoles since they aren't really necessary for a good few years imo

Still think it's killer that students (who this is obviously geared towards) can get a mac book for $499

8GB is fine, even if you need a little more RAM it will just swap to the NVMe

more would be ideal for Chrome based browsers/apps and other things but I don’t think many will need more

Have you tried any of the programs that scan your disk and break down the file sizes so you can dive in deeper? I use cleanmymac but I think there are free utilities for it. Something like DiskInventoryX I think it was called

The Neo is kind of crazy damn

It's weird how little these guys know about computers. Launching a bunch of apps just shows how fast the SSD is. They were doing this in 2012

The real constraint of these is RAM. You have to show how it handles sharing memory with multiple tabs loaded, videos playing, local LLMs running, etc.

Airs became so powerful since m3 so instead of them upping the prices for that they introduced a lower tier which is a great move
