The new Intel processors should be comparable to the Apple Silicon I think. But they're definitely trying to cheap out a bit.

It's not a deal to put Intel x86-64 processors back in Apple products, it's solely a manufacturing deal.

They'll be using Intel's foundry to make Apple M/A/etc. processors to diversify their suppliers since they've been entirely reliant on TSMC (for their entire M lineup & for the A lineup since the A10) who is the dominant figure in that lane

Nvidia is probably TSMC's biggest moneymaker since the AI era began so Apple doesn't have the same dominance/preferred status they once had with TSMC

It'll probably be just some specific chips e.g. Intel makes the Apple M7/A20 (basic version) etc. while TSMC does M7 Pro/Max etc & A20 Pro etc etc.

The Government has a 9.9% equity stake in Intel too, so it's possibly linked to them wanting some 'made in USA' parts & Intel needs all the work they can get since AMD has had them boxed up.

thanks for the insight, that all makes more sense.

Also lmao at Intel getting boxed up by AMD. I slept on AMD for so long, s*** is the truth

I been using Macbooks at work to test and I'm actually very impressed by how sleek fast and battery efficient they are. They absolutely own the game when it comes to aesthetics and the ability to secure your hardware. But I still hate Apple though. Might get a high end MacBook eventually when I got some f*** you money, but for now it's not really a big thing to me.

So apparently base iPhone 18s aren’t coming until well into 2027.

Only Pros + Fold in September.

  • Past 10 years huh? Me subbing my iPhone for a Huawei
