S*** is legit gonna be perfect. I was going to be mad if they left ProMotion off since it's been on the iPad for 4 years and it's a perfect time to usher that tech onto the Mac line, but I also would've understood it since it's such a massive upgrade otherwise. Really expected them to save it for gen 2 and I'm gonna be happily surprised if they really announce that feature on Monday

definitely 120hz + MiniLED for those deep blacks

gonna be an amazing experience to use

most the displays I use are OLED or MiniLED with 120hz, my MBP always feels like such a downgrade when I use it

true but they've been working on these MiniLEDs for years it seems like they're getting closer to having them ready for prime time now that a $1100 iPad Pro has one, a $2.5k 16 Inch Laptop not having it would be weird but yeah we will see maybe I'm just being too hopefully

can't get 4k 120hz on my OLED via a Mac without a buggy Displayport converter that overheats

mini LED isn't nowhere near OLED when it comes to displaying blacks

it's almost 100% the same when it comes to displaying large areas of black

MiniLED is very different from TVs with a couple 100 dimming zones

MiniLED usually is 1000s (10k+ soon) of zones and on a small laptop screen it will look the same for the background and menu bar

around apps there will be a small amount of haloing, from the backlight bleeding thru the zones, that's really the biggest difference when it comes to blacks.. OLED does look more inky and clean for movies and visuals because there is no haloing but for a Black desktop the difference won't be noticed

OLED has far superior motion resolution and input latency though, when it comes to gaming OLED is unmatched you get a level of clarity with 120hz OLED that isn't even possible by a LCD, that's why I use an OLED as my main monitor / gaming Display

but MiniLED has 400% better brightness on screens over 8 inches and it doesn't need a heatsink to cool for the peak nits, so it will be way easier to use with direct sunlight, I prefer MiniLED for my iPad and MacBook for this reason

MicroLED has the benefits of both and will replace OLED in 5-10 years

for now LCDs (w/ Quantum Nano Dot Cells + MiniLED Backlights) and OLED will be the two high end screen options everyone improves on, as of right now they both have Pros and Cons though
