Studio Display is f***ing awesome. Six-speaker sound system and 12MP camera with the 27" 5K is incredible. I am kind of disappointed at no mini-LED or ProMotion at $1600 though

apparently they’re pretty damn good but I’d wait for an update

the current mini is coming close to 2 years old and there’s been a refresh rumour for ages

guess they’re just waiting for the m2 to do the refresh

There's no competition though? The display market is f***ed up for high-DPI premium options. Not many choices. The sound / camera / mic systems and IO make it pretty sweet. All of that with a premium aluminum / glass design is not something you're getting elsewhere

No, doesn't have the thermal envelope for that. They specifically said that chip is for desktop users

maybe I'll be wrong but I think they'll do a 5k iMac sooner or later with M1 Max

that's my biggest issue, 5k iMacs were $1800 so you are paying $200 less and losing an entire computer

we will need to see reviews of the displays performance tho it could be a huge upgrade over the old 5k screen

that display better be amazing but we already know the blacks will be a let down since it's IPS with no dimming zones

makes more sense if you need the power of the Mac Studio tho

the base Mac Mini is really snappy

got one for my mother for Christmas

it runs tons of apps and stuff fine

The iPad Air colors are pretty nice. The iPhone pro colors are kinda mid this year tbh

Mac Studio seems great if you need the performance but M2 will be when I expect a big leap in single core performance

all these chips are very similar just with more cores so there really isn't much reason to go over the base M1 unless you have resource intensive needs

my M1 Max uses a few cores most the day unless I push it with rendering something

I think the studio will be a power house for 3D workloads and video editing tho

definitely will replace many old iMacs in design studios and things

a refurb m1 mini is a great deal

Mac Studio is incredible but disappointed they're holding off on a M1 Pro/Max Mac mini

unless you plan on having good integration with Apple devices and something pretty you're probably better getting the UltraFine
