Some other mind boggling misses:
Kanye doesn't have Yeezus in essentials
Charles Mingus - no Ah Um in essentials
ye one is fair
its a classic but its not essential
too niche for the general public
Thug 0 essentials
Migos got 1 and its so right
barter deserved
i'd only say that the slime seasons are "essential" beyond that maybe thugger girls
chance only has coloring book in his essentials
i’d say acid rap should be there too even without juice
Yeah they do mess up sometimes, but overall I would say it's really good and helpful. I usually look up essentials on AM when I discover new artist since I use AM too and most of the times it turns out to be right on
yeah, it's super effective when I want to do a quick deep dive. before that I would listen to the debut, maybe 2nd album, and then the artist's most/least popular one
though I see quite a few things that could've been improved when it's an artist I know a lot about. like they have 4 essential Alice Cooper albums, and not one of them is Trash

Juice is like my fav song tho that's why I don't play it
bruh talking about participation trophies for artists in here
it sucks that a lot of well-established but lesser-known acts rarely get their essential. no essentials for El-P but one for CanOx? I guess el-p's discog came to the streaming late but still
ye one is fair

Interesting. Do you think that essentials should contain the most accessible entry records? I think it's more about cuture impact, or being groundbreaking for an artists' career, which seem to be the way AM thinks, judging by the other artists.
BTI defined an entire decade but I know this isn't the place for that type of talk
Great album but defined the decade lol?

i think the idea of an essential is that its essential music - for everyone - not for an artists discog
i dont think yeezus is for everyone doesnt mean its not very good
i think yung bans off rip is one of the best songs ever but its not essential in any way
if they dont have at least three De La Soul albums as essentials once that s*** hits streaming...
Drake has 4 essentials. Future has 1. J Cole has none
what are you laughing about

Yeah I can't imagine If I would have to go from the beginning when I was getting into jazz These mfs were releasing like 2-3 albums every year back then.
Before AM I would basically dive into fan forums and other stuff to read and find out more about artist and what-to-listen, I still use that approach sometimes but not that much.
ELLE VARNER, GOT A CRUSH ON HER....
I GOTTA WAIT IN LINE FOR THAT
AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT
they should make Black Flag's My War an essential. and give some to Dead Kennedys, damn
BTI defined an entire decade but I know this isn't the place for that type of talk
I wouldn’t say BTI defined the decade because it didn’t sound like most of the music from the decade HOWEVER
It is absolutely one of the best albums of the decade

yeah thats p much what I think about it. 'defined the decade' stuff is mostly what I hear from other people. it did capture the moment tho
