i always thought the artist or a few people just randomly decide this. Like theres tons of artists with classics and they dont have essential albums and s*** so did it ever actually matter?

Thank Me Later is definitely not an essential album but you really don’t think the album that launched Drake into super stardom isn’t an essential listen to someone looking to get into Drake???

I find this interesting because that section on Apple Music is usually reserved for projects that are considered cultural classics, but it seems with Drake that the only one most people would consider a classic is Take Care, which is why that was the only one in that section for the longest time.
Would y’all consider those other 4 projects as classics?
Yes Thank Me Later is a classic because it is DRAKE'S DEBUT ALBUM.

That’s fair but it’s not usually how the essential albums work on Apple Music. Listening to So Far Gone would be a better way to see the breakthrough of Drake honestly, TML is an ugly stain on his discography

People treat more albums that Take Care as classic. They’ve lasted the test of time, get mad replay and are cherished
The downplaying of his classics is just a “it’s cool to hate on drake” thing
Especially when you compare the s***s to some forgettable no impact s***s they try to label as classic

And for y’all hating on TML, that was essential to his growth, most of his cadences and delivery styles can be traced back to that album. It’s what helped form the artist we know today.
If you listen to it understanding that it was the beginning of the rise, it hits a little different. I still don’t underhand the hate that it receives but oh well

I disagree, the best songs were the loosies Club Paradise, Free Spirit etc.. TC does have classic moments in it but a few tracks just don’t hold well overtime like Make Me Proud or Headlines.
