Deep questions like why have a lighter when we have matches
Lighters actually were invented before matches
“This will fail because no one wants to walk around all day with this strapped to their face”
yeah, no s***… until a glasses like iteration, this is meant to be a home device like a desktop computer. It’s meant to let you move around without being tied to a desk within traditionally desktop dominated spaces. Same thing for the entertainment aspect.
Lighters actually were invented before matches
Why have lighters when we have wood
The tech and engineering is great and seems like a natural step towards implementing more AR in our daily lives
That being said, you must be a moron to drop 3.5k on something like this unless you're obscenely wealthy lol
Why do we need this lol
we dont need s*** besides water and some food
The truth comes out!
born in the wrong era, I'm too nervous for this s*** when it probably won't be that damaging.
wondering if this affects people's eyesight in any way, did they go over that?
also, the whole “apple is charging $3,500 bc it’s apple and they know ppl will pay whatever “ is such a 2012 reddit guy argument.
Sure even the high end rn like the Quest Pro is $1,500.. Why can’t Apple do that? If you look at the tech inside this, half of this is unheard of and years out. While it’s not my favorite Apple design, it’s an engineering marvel (first bent motherboard in a headset) and even the camera array alone. The only comparable headset on the market is the Varjo XR3 and that costs like $6.4k. Also, from most initial impressions, this is two times better than that headset
at the end of the day, just because it’s expensive and out of your price range doesn’t make it a bad product. I can’t afford a ferrari, but does that make it a bad car?
In two years, nobody outside of some Apple product slobbers will really care for it.

there’s no evidence of AR/VR being any worse than TV for your eyes. Even though there’s a screen essentially on tour face, your eyes have the perception t of looking through a window. It’s just encouraged to take a break to avoid eye strain like any other screen

also, i do agree it’s pretty insane to be a kid being born or raised around this. The amount of stimulation available with all the tech releasing is what I imagine the equivalent to taking 50 hits of molly then drinking a four loko and jumping out of a plane every morning is for your emotional receptors. I think millenials/early gen z hit a sweet spot where we essentially evolved with technology instead of being born into it
i understand it’s crazy hi tech but pricing everyone out isnt the move
It is legitimately the only move.
Not selling this high will lead to scalping and reselling much higher. There clearly will not be enough supply for demand anytime soon.
Its probably near $1k in materials alone.

i understand stand your view but products that dont have mass users = devs not happy and companies not the happiest because why would they devote insane money and resources to products not too much people have
lack of dev support for products = not much intriguing product = why would anyone buy this after hype goes down = failed product
How many slave hours are used to make this just so i can watch milf threesome 8k in outta space?
