I’ve been trying to get rid of a bunch of clothes and replace them with versatile staples, ideally so everything I own works together. What would you guys have in your ideal small wardrobe? High-end, thrift, blanks, whatever you think is cool. Will post my essentials/the look I’m going for if anyone’s interested.
Post the look you're going for
I got my own take on this but this is YOUR thread

I’ll throw some images up in a sec, but I’m also looking to see what others on the board consider their essentials, etc. Would like to get discussion from this just as much as advice
nvm just read the title and assumed all u wanted was archive lol
Reading comprehension
Nah you’re good, there’s been a huge surge lately in people buying archive just to say it’s archive so I feel you on that

I’ve got 1460 Monos right now and I like them, but if you have any better recs for a similar silhouette let me know. I know @chasewalked hates docs so maybe he can come berate me into a better choice

This makes me realize that I need a fuller range of boots in that style (not to have but knowledge wise)
Cause for years this conversation has always been
Starter: Docs (military surplus should get more love here too, there are so many sick boots/clothes you can grab outta this which makes sense)
Brands that have similar takes to the high end: FTF
High End: AnnD, SLP, Dior etc
I need some education here too
Feel like there's gonna be some great discussion that comes outta this one, good thread
@Jjjjesse @mythic_
thank you!!
My wardrobe is quite small, it's a noble effort, but one that needs to be undertaken with the right intentions. What are your motivations for slimming down your wardrobe? What do you want your style to be?
It's not just about what clothes you like, but what you actually like to wear. What suits your lifestyle, and your style.

Mostly I’m tired of having a bunch of crap that only works in one or two outfits. I’d like to have high quality pieces that fit with everything else I’ve got, I guess. Trying to develop a uniform of sorts.
I’m into sort of downplayed Japanese streetwear, mixed with a little vintage Americana and Miskito. Very similar to your style, actually, but probably more muted colors.

honestly that's because there are very few options for mid range boots. once you start getting quality leather the price will go up several hundred 🤷♀️ and very few brands out there are making combats

I totally get that! Even once you do have kind of a capsule wardrobe, I've found that not every piece has to go with every other piece. A few statement pieces are cool, just like they are in any other wardrobe.
I'd recommend shopping vintage first, think about your other hobbies too, if you're super active are you going to have a separate athleticwear wardrobe? Or can you work that into your smaller closet

Definitely lots to think about in regards to functionality in daily life, e.g. not having a bunch of ‘costume’ fits just for going out.
I’m working on building a house off-grid so it’s important to me to have everything (or almost everything) be durable and good for the outdoors.

That's so dope! Definitely get some surplus gear, GOAT for working outside!

Yeah, I’m thinking I’ll use surplus to fill lots of gaps in my wardrobe. Field jacket and trousers for sure, but also sweaters and stuff like that.
Any good sites/sources you can recommend? I know you do a lot of surplus and surplus-adjacent stuff.
