True, but in rap we as consumers separate things in time period or subgenere because of the obvious and ongoing divide that happens as the sound of rap continues to expand and evolve.
I don't think the artist has a choice of what gap they fall into.

We really only hold that title for 90s rappers. We don’t day it for 80s rap. And definitely not 00s, so why 10s?
