  • May 3, 2020

Man landlords are scum. I had my rent set to autopay last month and water is included so it didn’t pay the complete amount it was like $30 left and I didn’t know. Landlord messaged me some crazy ass message like I walked in the office beat somebody ass and stole something. And I’ve never missed a payment or been late, I pay my s*** the first of the month.

The standard lease has language like you’re not getting out your lease even in death.

"Landlords are the only one of the three orders whose revenue costs them neither labour nor care, but comes to them, as it were, of its own accord, and independent of any plan or project of their own. That indolence, which is the natural effect of the ease and security of their situation, renders them too often, not only ignorant, but incapable of that application of mind"

Landlords jobs require no labor or care? Some landlords build the spot they are renting, most take care of problems that arise (plumbing, AC, electric). Not only is taking the time to fix it (even if just calling someone to do so) technically labor, it also costs money. Finding someone to keep the grounds mowed is labor and also costs money. I get the concept behind disliking landlords but to say it requires no planning, care, or labor, is dumb as s***. Y’all acting like landlords are billionaires

How so? They take a risk by investing in property, then distribute this risk by entering a consensual agreement that allows multiple parties to live somewhere for less than they would pay to buy property. At the same time they take care of issues than can be costly and maintain the property, leaving the tenant responsible only for the cost of rent.

I used to live in an apartment and now I own a house. I had a lot less bills while living in the apartment and was able to save up enough money that I could purchase a house when I finished with school. Between the higher mortgage, down patent, and necessary repairs, owning a house in the past 2 years has cost about $20,000 more than renting.
