What people need to understand about Trump is that there's almost zero chance of him going through with any polices that would get his base excited. That's why 4D chess and Qanon had to be invented during his first term - to explain how he was secretly doing all these things they wanted.

He's beholden to megadonors like Mirian Adelson, not edgy MAGA twitter.

I helped found my citys first tenants union and we force landlords to make repairs they’ve been refusing for months and give tenants thousands of dollars in stolen money back by confronting them directly on a weekly basis. All while openly being communists. Nice try tho

he's going to get in office again and let down evangicals when he walks back all those promises about restoring faith and s*** when half his policies gets rejected by state courts

he's going to give more tax cuts to the rich and corporations

inherit a failing economy on track for a worse recession than 2008

and probably just golf or some other bullshit at mar a lago

Maybe I'm biased because I'm a dual citizen (Canada and US) living in Canada, so Canada doesn't have as much blood on their hands compared to the US, but the further we go down this path of neo-populism, the further we all get f***ed. I'm influenced by pessimism so I understand your stance, but look at the following if Trump gets elected:

• Replace tens of thousands of federal civil servants with Republicans.
• Grant the president absolute control over the executive branch.
• Eliminate funding for the Department of Justice.
• Dismantle the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security.
• Reduce environmental and climate change regulations to favor fossil fuel production.
• Abolish the FCC and FTC, which protect communications and trade.
• Abolish the Department of Education.
• Fund scientific research federally only if it aligns with conservative principles.
• Infuse the government with elements of Christianity.
• Propose criminalizing p***ography, removing protections against discrimination based on sexual or gender identity, and ending diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, as well as affirmative action.
• Advise the future president to immediately deploy the military for domestic law enforcement.
• Recommend the arrest, detention, and deportation of undocumented immigrants nationwide.
• Promote capital punishment and expedite the finalization of such sentences.
• Regulated or full on regulated trans-care as it'll be listed as child abuse
• Separation of church and state.

Again, while Trump didn't plan this himself, he will co-opt it and it'll lead to the US being completely red for decades to come. This is not exaggeration, while Trump is/was less evil than Bush Jr and Sr, Reagan, Nixon and Clinton, the amount of damage of him getting into office will be monumental. Neo-populist GOP loyalists will take this country by the throat.

People always ask why is there only a two-party system in the US, there is, but it radically changes every few decades, we will no longer in an era of neoliberalism, we will be in an era of far-right neopopulism. Think of it like Texas' gerrymandering, but in the context of the US.

they hold a minority in the House, have no control over Trump's cabinet, and face a Republican majority in the Senate, so they can't flip things like they did from 2016 to 2020.

despite this, there have been numerous unionizations among federal agencies, protests in democratic-majority cities, a judge halted Trump's plan to place USAID employees on leave, members of congress denied access to the Department of Education, and a federal judge preventing DOGE from accessing sensitive treasury department documents. the Department of Justice agreed to provide two days' notice before releasing FBI employee names linked to January 6 cases, US senators issued warnings about threats to national parks, and Trump fired the Federal Election Commission's head, who has refused to resign still. not to mention for unions, DOGE was prevented from accessing the labour department data. the fight is still far from over
