His ability to distance like that (since it was never his campaigns policy in the first place) is exactly why I said there needed to be a different strategy rather than prioritizing fear around Project 2025

You gotta campaign ON TRUMP. Or even better… on your OWN policies

yes thats why I dont vote for people who will do that, its very simple

Maybe I'm biased because I'm a dual citizen (Canada and US) living in Canada, so Canada doesn't have as much blood on their hands compared to the US, but the further we go down this path of neo-populism, the further we all get f***ed. I'm influenced by pessimism so I understand your stance, but look at the following if Trump gets elected:

    • Replace tens of thousands of federal civil servants with Republicans.
    • Grant the president absolute control over the executive branch.
    • Eliminate funding for the Department of Justice.
    • Dismantle the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security.
    • Reduce environmental and climate change regulations to favor fossil fuel production.
    • Abolish the FCC and FTC, which protect communications and trade.
    • Abolish the Department of Education.
    • Fund scientific research federally only if it aligns with conservative principles.
    • Infuse the government with elements of Christianity.
    • Propose criminalizing p***ography, removing protections against discrimination based on sexual or gender identity, and ending diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, as well as affirmative action.
    • Advise the future president to immediately deploy the military for domestic law enforcement.
    • Recommend the arrest, detention, and deportation of undocumented immigrants nationwide.
    • Promote capital punishment and expedite the finalization of such sentences.
    • Regulated or full on regulated trans-care as it'll be listed as child abuse
    • Separation of church and state.

Again, while Trump didn't plan this himself, he will co-opt it and it'll lead to the US being completely red for decades to come. This is not exaggeration, while Trump is/was less evil than Bush Jr and Sr, Reagan, Nixon and Clinton, the amount of damage of him getting into office will be monumental. Neo-populist GOP loyalists will take this country by the throat.

People always ask why is there only a two-party system in the US, there is, but it radically changes every few decades, we will no longer in an era of neoliberalism, we will be in an era of far-right neopopulism. Think of it like Texas' gerrymandering, but in the context of the US.

  • What the f*** are we supposed to do about it?

Everybody seems to be falling for the fascist GOP parties rhetoric

  • People are too pacified for a revolution being comfortable with tech goods and creature comforts living inside the imperial core

why would I care if the FBI and DHS get dismantled? why would you care? its not going to happen anyway so whats the point in bringing it up? sorry but so much of this crap is just the DNC media scare machine, imperialism is a system of totality and it has an internal logic regardless of who is in charge. you see this currently with Biden needing to compete with Trump from the right on palestine and immigration (the latter has become more fascistic under Biden, liberals simply dont care because people of color are political props).

I don't think you understand. I listed everything that was significant enough. That includes "good" things like the elimination of FBI, the separation of church and state, and the dismissal of the Supreme Court, but read between the lines: what do you think will replace the FBI and other three-letter organizations? What do you think will replace the democratic supreme government? It's because they are introducing their own s***.

You might find this as classic neoliberal media scare, but this would happen with or without Trump; that is the scary part. With how much we've changed as a society since covid, a GOP led America would be terrible news, if the almost the entire EU got influenced by Trump's US from 2016-2020, imagine his next term? All those "safe" havens like Canada, Germany, Australia/NZ, Nords will all turn to neo-populism.

I'm well aware of the far-right's plans and I take them seriously. what I dont take seriously is the idea that voting for Biden will prevent any of these things. the genocide of palestinians is happening right now, it is a tangible form of fascism, and as a palestinian i refuse to vote for it. others should follow suit.

Oh well, I'm hoping he passes away while still serving his term. Not that Kamala is much better.

The GOP is the problem here, and I am opposed to neoliberalism. I've voted progressive (NDP) every year since I've been eligible in Canada, and I've never voted in the United States, but that will change this year.

I understand that I am applying an inherently neoliberal/moderate ideology to you, which may irritate you, but I am more concerned with preventing us from entering a potential multi-decade era of conservatism. Trump and other conservative leaders around the world have gained the support of the "working class," which I find extremely oxymoronic.

    this is word vomit

"i'm against neoliberalism" - declares voting for neoliberal shills

newsflash all your politicans are neoliberals, it doesnt matter if you choose the donkey or the horse, enjoy your austerity cuts and more tax breaks to the private sector.
Ex) Biden ended many covid relief programs and refused to fight for eviction extensions once they expired during his term, why? Because Biden (like all politicians) are bought out rentier and finance capital and only exists to serve their interests. He directly worsened the lives of many Americans, especially black, brown, immigrant workers who probably also have a substantial amount of LGBTQ people who actually struggle from transphobic policies

Brother we have been living in the era of "conservatism" for decades, the USA has been in the blackest hole of reaction darker than any country except maybe the UK. The Dems all shifted to the right after Reagan and Biden has been explicitly repeating republican rhetoric about "border security" and muh immigrants to "reach across the aisle" and appease moderates. Biden doesn't give a s*** about you, he cares about suburban moderates and lite conservatives you win margins in elections

Again, idk you, but Project 2025 to anyone who is white and middle class is not shocking. America has BEEN near fascist if not outright fascist for centuries for most of the population.

The fact that the three branches of government can be taken over by either party at a given time, leading to gridlock or the so called "progressive" liberals being stumped by conservative courts means it doesn't actually matter.

Roe v Wade disappeared under Biden. "BUT TRUMP CHOSE THE SC JUDGES=" refer to my last post. That's the whole f***ing point. Stop pretending voting for one neolib shill over the other out of any perceived moral victory is actually amounts to anything

On top of that, you're voting in Canada and now desperately wanting to vote in USA? Worry about your own country. Canada is a settler colony that was so lame it couldn't even break from the commonwealth. the only reason its still standing is because its literally nothing there and its cold.

A president cannot do almost every single thing you listed as a single actor

Funding and agency dismantling would require heavy and absolute loyal majorities in both Congress and the Senate. Something completely unprecedented in U.S. history. Mind you this is a guy who couldn’t pass basic elements of his campaign promises despite having Senate and House majorities in 2017

I understand the fear of a 2nd term but this type of s*** is why people aren’t really moved by the “if Trump gets elected then __” anymore. There has to be a different angle than this
