Alright so I know y'all have seen videos like this. Somebody taking money or clothes and handing it out while smiling into the camera and saying s*** like "I'm just trying to bless y'all today". How do y'all feel about this kind of stuff.

My boy was doing this stuff alot making YouTube videos about helping people. But after the second video people really started seeing how it was really only him trying to market is brand and stuff.

Me and my friends kinda confronted him about it and he got real defensive about it. Saying "how y'all gonna hate on someone doing something positive for people".

We tried to explain to him that everyone could tell it was not about doing something positive it was all about trying to make himself look good. But he just called us toxic and stopped talking to us for 2-3 days.

Just curious how y'all feel about this

    For example:

Edit: Im not saying don't do good deeds, just don't record them to show yourself off

Find something else to hate on. Why do you care that the reason someone else is doing something good bc of selfish reasons? They are doing more than you are
Imagine if everyone tried to help everyone to get the approval from others. Would the world be better off, yes or no?

I rather go the Jay-Z and Beyoncé route

Doing good deeds in private and not needing to tell everybody on social media how good of a person you are

Jay Z doesn't have social media at all. So ofc he isn't telling people. I don't think Beyonce runs her social media, although I might be wrong.
Basically I'm saying... Those people are already private people. Duh they aren't going to share

But if you have no problem with someone smoking weed and posting a video of it on social media, or someone dancing to Toosie Slide and putting up a video, or doing push ups and making a video... Why tf do you care about someone recording themselves helping other people? This generation records EVERYTHING that is apart of their lives and shares it. So why not share this also?
    1. If you say that they wouldn't have done it if they couldn't post it, then you should not be ok with people making tik tok dances bc no one would record those vids if they also couldn't share it
    2. If you say that they are only posting it on social media for validation, clout chasing, etc etc.. Then I have a bridge to sell you, as well as some news for you: Every single thing posted on social media is for validation/clout/whatever tf you wanna call it. Every. Single. Thing. It's literally just different content

    Holy f***, 40k to each??

Also, I would never in my life to to Checkers during a pandemic.

I already haven't eaten fast food in like a month (except Chic Fil A once )

  • If they’re actually that “good”

Would they even need a video?

My friend I’m not hating at all. I’m stating how I feel about certain people. I do 3 good deeds every year that I never post about. If people want to do it I can’t stop them nor will I want to, but I will not call them a good person because they showed themselves off doing good.

Not reading all that but I think it depends on their motive to do it, if they want recognition it’s lame if they’re genuine and really just wanna help then they good !

This is a good point tho. Damn I’m kinda conflicted here cus like id rather everyone be their genuine selves but the world is in need of more positivity lmao

There is no such thing as a good person or bad person. The sooner you realize that the better off you'll be

There’s good people and there’s bad people
You can a good person that does bad sometimes and vice versa

Everyone is on a journey to find their true selves. People just go through that journey and share that journey differently than others. Ppl who post things like this for clout now, may genuinely fall in love with helping people and it becomes their life's work. Or when the views start to dwindle, so will their "activism". But either way, I'd rather everyone go through a clout chasing activist phase than whatever we got going on now
Imagine if every wanna be rapper was a wanna be clout chasing philanthropist

  • Ooo

No, there isn't. Good and bad is just relative, like short and tall. The difference between short and tall, and good and bad though, is that height has an average and can be measured in a way that is universally agreed upon. Can't say the same for good and bad bc 1. everyone has their own beliefs of what Good and bad even is (their own standard, essentially), & 2. Bc most people's standards are not clearly defined

Person is an objective word. What constitutes for a "person" is clearly defined.
Good is subjective. The meaning of the word is based on what the subject who is saying it believes in.
So to pair them together "good person" doesn't make sense

My point exactly. Like if you wanna help then pull up and help out. That’s how I view what most of these people do. Sometimes it looks like humiliation.

S*** then you need to meet my mom and dad and try to convince me.

im a firm believer that we deep down do everything we do because of selfish reasons anyway. the reason people give money to charity or homeless people is because in the end it makes them feel better about themselves. that doesnt negate the positive effect it has tho

It makes them feel good about themself because they know someone else is benefiting from it. It's not hard or mentally difficult at all to just wanna do a good or needed thing for someone
