Part of the appeal with Batman89 and Returns was that they were fantastical. Tim Burton brought out a level of imagination and fantasy that worked well with the character/film genre.

While The Dark Knight series was good, I felt like it was a little too realistic. There was no element of imagination. It simply wasn't "fun". Great performance by Heath, but it just didn't have the same energy as the Burton movies.

The same goes for the latest, The Batman, movie. I really wanted to love it, but once again it felt too serious/real.

Do you feel that Batman movies should be grounded in realism? Or do you like the fantastical version better?

Brave and the Bold is going to be more wacky don't worry

The Batman Crime Saga is going to be grounded
DCU Batman is going to incorporate more fantastical elements

Batman will always be more grounded cause he has no powers but they could get more creative with the villains so he isn’t just beating up random goons and streamer terrorists. Like have him fight a mutant lizard man or some s***.

    Just make it fun lol.

I don't need it to be like a Spider-Man movie, but have an epic score like the Danny Elfman one. Have epic suit up moments.

The recent movies are just missing that one iconic Batman moment that defines the character in one shot.

Don't get me wrong, The Dark Knight is a great movie.

    The Two Face scenes >>>>>>>

But I still think Batman89 is the standard for the essence of Batman

but to reply to thread topic, Tim Burton movies are their own genre. not all Batman movies will be like that. Tim Burton’s Batman was the Tim Burton twist on Batman, not the standard for what Batman movies should be like.

But you dont think that standard got entirely f***ed up with the cheesy ass batman forever and batman and robin? Hence why they prolly felt the need to switch it up

Yeah, Batman has been nothing more than the post-Miller grimdark grounded show in live action for almost 20 years now. Batman is more, much more than that. He’s the most versatile comic character for a reason

And I think general audiences are sick of it too. If y’all think the first solo Batman film in ten years with a popular lead not cracking $800 million and having virtually zero discussion afterwards is just cause of COVID, I got a boat to sell you

This. Wasn't the biggest compliment on the recent Batman was that it's truer to "the real batman" and him being a detective?

I agree with this. Batman is just a man but his villains can be superhuman. He has to beat them with his cunning, with his mind, with his resources. The villains don’t all need to be regular humans (or humans on steroids like Bane). Give him more challenges.
