The great thing about Batman is it can work in multiple forms. I like pretty much all the films in their own context. Batman Returns is my favorite because it’s just a perfect aesthetic artifact, but Nolan’s grounded and more reserved stylization worked in relation to The Dark Knight. I don’t think The Batman is nearly as “realistic” in execution as what Nolan was doing. I think Reeves finds a great balance that allows campier elements to fit naturally into his world due to how he plays them straight and stylizes the environment. You’d have to be blind to say Snyder or Reeves take is just an extension of Nolan. Something like Manbat or Mr. Freeze wouldn’t work in Nolan’s universe, but it totally fits into Snyder’s or even Reeves. Anyways y’all don’t really have a lot of historical context for this considering even Burton’s films at the time were considered realistic and dark. Burton himself was influenced by The Killing Joke.
DC announces movie starring a father son Batman/robin duo directly based on a cartoon
creates thread same day about Batman movies being too realistic
Brave and the Bold is going to be more wacky don't worry
The Batman Crime Saga is going to be grounded
DCU Batman is going to incorporate more fantastical elements
Tbh that's not good enough. Why can't it look like The Batman just with some of the weird elements? It's hard to explain
Batman will always be more grounded cause he has no powers but they could get more creative with the villains so he isn’t just beating up random goons and streamer terrorists. Like have him fight a mutant lizard man or some s***.
The animated series had the best villains
There’s only 4 movies you can argue are “realistic” and 2 of those are Bruce Wayne heavy
Go watch the other 20
Yeah, Batman has been nothing more than the post-Miller grimdark grounded show in live action for almost 20 years now. Batman is more, much more than that. He’s the most versatile comic character for a reason
And I think general audiences are sick of it too. If y’all think the first solo Batman film in ten years with a popular lead not cracking $800 million and having virtually zero discussion afterwards is just cause of COVID, I got a boat to sell you
Pattinson isn’t really a “popular lead”. Most casual audiences just knew him as the dude from Twilight before The Batman came out.
Also the virtually zero discussion is just false lmao, I see that movie being talked about almost every single day.
And $770 million in a theater industry recovering from the pandemic is very good
Poison Ivy was hot
Yeah but they had the most outrageous villains. Literal horror film s*** like the man-bat or killer croc.

Casual audiences stopped caring about new Batman like a month before Top Gun 2 came out

Casual audiences stop caring about everything once the next hot thing comes out lmao what is this take

Not no way home
Not no way home
No Way Home features three different live action Spider-Man from three separate franchises crossing over on screen, that movie is the exception not the rule
We need clay face !!!
I think that would start to lean too much into the Spider-Man style if they went too far with it
Clay face COULD work if they did it like Scarecrow in Batman Begins

Definitely have historical context with the OGs
Audiences were outraged when Keaton was initially casted because they didn’t think he was the right fit and thought it was be too campy
The studio had to rush out a trailer (as seen in OP) to reassure the audience
After that, the rest is history
No Way Home features three different live action Spider-Man from three separate franchises crossing over on screen, that movie is the exception not the rule
Just put Tobey in the next Batman then
