i hate all of this music. girlie gen z pop. early 2010s pop was 100x better.
Theyre really trying to erase the pop colossus era of Katy Perry, Adele, Black Eyed Pea, Jay, Kanye, Wayne, Drake, Nicki, Wiz, LMFAO and Gaga
It wasnt all good music but hits were really hits. You had to fight for a top 40 spot now any decently popular artist is in there by default with multiple entries
Charlie XCX, Chappell Roan, Brina Barpenter, Orod, Billie Eyelash, Ariana all got some solid bodies of work out rn, so it's got me thinking we are in the era of a golden age of pop music.
only even remotely interesting artist you posted is charli xcx and she isn't making anything better than what she used to make. although it's commendable that she didn't f*** her career up even more up with another mid album like crash. brat deserved to be as successful as it was and i'm glad it was, good moderately experimental (for pop) albums being that wildly popular are only good for culture a whole, but it's not better than her previous work. unlike crash though i'd say it's worthy of standing alongside it

Exactly like Brat was good but not touching Vroom ep even
When I was a teenager and hated all music that wasn't rap, even I couldn't resist the power of later Madonna, Destiny's Child, Shania Twain, Gaga etc.
Now I'm old, way more chill and open to pop music and didn't hear a single potential classic from any of these new girls.
Chapelle has potential for a classic if really hones in and focuses on growth. I’d say 2-3 more albums in if she really goes that path

chapelle roan is the most astroturfed white b**** i've seen yet, yall seriously need to listen to more music.

Thats what all these new fans/younger people will never understand. A top 30 song back then might've been bigger than a #1 song today. The one I always use is NIP--peaked at #5. And if you were around back then you know that s*** was EVERYWHERE lol
Im On One peaked at #10
Both those go #1 today and probably stay #1 for half a year lol

Maybe if she stops spending all her time victimizing herself and focuses on bops
imagine unbothered queen Charli getting miffed over every single slight all year
Comparing this era to years when Michael Jackson and Prince were dropping pop classics is laughable.

2006 - 2013 were the golden age of pop
similarly to 1982 - 1989
Back when the amazingly talented and classically trained songwriters weren't retired yet.
I feel like we had a changing of the guard in like 2019 and now everyone runs to Jack Antonoff instead of Tricky Stewart, The-Dream or M. Martin

'62 - '66 has no competition

They didnt make pink pony club so im not hearing it geezer
Maybe we as a site have to accept that a bunch of 35 year old male kanye stans arent the best judges of what makes a good female popstar in 2025
