2wordsThere’s more polarizing classics too like 808s. Even pet sounds had some pushback and did well in the UK but sold poorly in the US because it was “too sad” or “too deep” which could almost be compared to TPAB’s reception
808s and Pet Sounds are classics though because of their legacy. Look at all of the artists they inspired. I mean great artists would go on to mention those albums specifically when talking about their inspiration in music and shaping who they became. I don’t hear any new school artists referencing TPABs sound for having a huge impact on them and inspiring their music. It’s still early though, only time will tell.

speaking of new tiny details, "for free" came up randomly on autoplay on youtube and i just caught this: "i need 40 acres and a mule not a 40 ounce and a pitbull"
i always knew what the "40 acres and a mule" referred to, and the juxtaposition and contrast between these two things. but i didn't catch that 40 was used (also intentionally used) in both the items juxtaposed. and that 40 ounces could metaphorically mean 40, but 40 "somethings" but of a lower unit, (ounce compared to an acre) with the extended meaning of acres x ounces meaning beeing given WAAAAAY less.
