  • This is a broad topic and I wanted to know some things about how yall feel about Uzi now and we'll come back to compare how you feel and where he's at after Pink Tape drops

    1. How do you feel about Uzi right now as an artist and his career as it stands today?

    2. When was your favorite era and how much more or less do you love him compared to previous eras

    3. If you love him less what can he do to get you back on?

    4. If you love him more what is he doing right for you?

    5. Do you see him maintaining his commercial peak from Eternal Atake or have the majority moved on to other younger artists? (NLE Choppa, Carti, Polo G) Will he continue to dominate his competition like Travis and Lil Baby?

    6. Can he eventually transition into that legendary status in the hip-hop hall of fame like Nas, Hov, Dre, etc rappers or will Uzi be a product of his time? I'm very curious on this question and want yall thoughts

Personally I think Uzi is already cemented as a legendary figure from his era of rap but is missing the universally beloved album that will get him fans outside of his generation. he's basically seen as an artist who's 'for the kids' which is a great lane to be in when the focus is on making hits but not one that gives a ton of longevity.

my favorite era of Uzi was LIR2 but if you ask me all his albums / tapes are at least decent. I love Eternal Atake it was a great album. Honestly in many ways it is better than LIR2 because of the production and the amount of flows he'd find on one beat. Pop, Secure The Bag, Celebration Station, Baby Pluto and That Way are still in heavy rotation.
I like the Pluto x Baby Pluto album a lot too, Real Baby Pluto & Stripes Like Burberry are perfect examples of what make the pairing of Uzi and Future so great.
Right now I think what Uzi is doing right is adapting to what's hot in rap and still maintaining his unique flair despite stepping into the sounds of different regions and even the new type of rage hip-hop music coming out. The only thing i wish Uzi did more is make songs that feel a bit personal and give what he thinks about life outside of the cars, girls, and fashion but hopefully he gets there with time.

I think his commercial peak is far from over unless the quality of music takes a nosedive.

    1. He’s had a great career thus far but for the past few years it’s seemed like he’s totally uninterested in being great at music, and his work ethic today is a fraction of what it used to be. He’s one of the best from his era but unlike 21, Curry, Yatchy and them, he isn’t really improving at that same rate

    2. My favorite era was LIR era partly due to nostalgia, but also he sounded so unique and interesting at the same compared to everything else that was out. And at that point, the rapper/rockstar pastiche wasn’t done so death. Uzi to this day is still one of the only artists to really perfect it.

    3. He hasn’t lost me but if he made a project that has lots of flows and memorable songs I’d be happy. Also, putting out music more frequently would he great

    4. He’s still one of the top guys from his era. The idea of a sizeable portion of his fanbase moving over to an NLE ass nigga is

He does have the chance to be truly legendary but early in his career he said and did everything to suggest that he’s ONLY for the youth and being older than 25 means you’re washed. I don’t know if he was properly prepared to have a long lasting career like he’s been having. Once he addresses that, he can go even further imo.

I think the work ethic thing is really misleading. He's constantly making music or in the studio. Now that he's a massive artist who cant just drop on a dime it isn't like the glory days of getting 3/4 projects in the span of 2 years. S*** he sat on so much music between LIR2 and EA and his issue with his contract was a major factor in why EA didnt come out quicker. Just different rules now that he's a major player instead of another up and comer on soundcloud.

    1. I think Uzi is in a good spot, after the rough patch between LIR2 and EA I feel like he's course corrected appropriately. While I think Demon High is a huge flop which concerns me cause its super generic emo pop rap, Red&White EP and Just Wanna Rock were both very solid. Cigarette is one of my fav songs he's released in years and he recorded that recently (not just a grail from the old days).

    2. LIR era is the most iconic to me just cause thats when I got hip but I've enjoyed every era in its own way, man ran the game in 2016. Still enjoying him like the old days just have different expectations this deep into his career.

    3. I just hope he doesn't go the route of super generic emo rap songs, Juice had already taken his lane (prior to passing, RIP) in that regard and was doing it better, really just want him to keep hopping on interesting beats and doing what he wants, thats when he thrives to me, always been versatile that way.

    4. Mans not scared to hop on the trends but he always has his spin on it which is why I enjoy him, a mix between whats popular, his own sound, and his ability to make it uniquely Uzi.

    5. I dont think Pink will do EA numbers but he'll do well. I think people still care even if this gen is not as focused and the old fans more critical.

    6. I think Uzi has already cemented himself in the books as one of the most notable artists from the 10's, man has a Diamond record, I think as long as he doesn't release real garbage or forgettable music in this decade he'll be remembered long term.

    1. I played Uzi a lot this year. He still my top rap artist that came from that soundcloud era.
    2. My favorite era is either Uzi Vs. the World or LIR2. I probably like him even more now because he has a great catalog i can go through and i can appreciate more what he did for rap.
    4. I don’t think he is particularly doing anything more right. I’m just excited for Pink tape because I’m expecting it go into the hyperpop or Jersey club direction. Uzi might even surprise us and do a sound we might not expect. That’s shat I’m looking forward to the most.
    5. I don’t think he will sell as much as EA but I Just Wanna Rock got him connected with the kids again. I can see 200k+
    6. I think the legends are already cemented. But who knows you might not get looked at crazy if you say that in 10 years
