My father would have been successful, but my mother's spending habits and alcoholism (not to mention those meddling kids...) have kind of gotten in his way. My mother used to make ~300k a year, but she gave it up due to stress and blew through most of her savings.

    Both parents immigrated from Mexico

Dad left when I was early middle school age

Mom had to maintain 3 jobs sometimes just to provide. Never really got to see her and when I did she was always angry (I guess I would be to if I was in her position)

I was the oldest of 3 and had to step up

I’m 22 now and don’t have a close relationship with my mom, haven’t talked to my dad in about 10-11 years or so

So idk man you tell me

    took a bit but ye

mom had me at 21, we lived with my grandparents until I was 8, moved into a townhouse but kinda broke, she decides to go to school when I'm like 10. graduates, gets good job when I'm 14, and buys a house the end of my sophomore year of HS

stepdad lived with his mom until we moved into our townhouse, moves in with us, sells d**** whole time we live there (seven years), decided to get a regular job once we moved into the house we in now, starts selling cars, makes more money than my mom tbh

Honestly watching my mom's come up through the years taught me that everybody moves at their own pace, like she always made sure I was straight before she went to school and pretty much anything I wanted I got (had assistance from my grandparents too ofc), but she didn't really get on her s*** until 30 pretty much and now she's doing great at the age of 43. Same goes for my stepdad when it comes to not getting on your s*** until 30
