Her fans are going to ‘yall really don’t like r&b?’ ‘Smh it’s an R&B ALBUM, that’s why!’ as rebuttals for any criticism.
Was her last album not R&B?
If you think this album is a miss but think thank, u next isn’t, your opinion is invalid lmao
People loved TYN, she had to run to the studio when people couldn't find any hits on Sweetener
Drill versions when

No, I think it’s much better
I’ve never been a fan of thank u, next
Sweetener is a way better project but her crazy stans convinced her that Pharrell ruined that album so she came back and gave them something simple and basic to eat up and of course they did

Her pop stans loved thank u, next and hated on Sweetener, but in reality a lot of people liked Sweetener and since her stans were the loud minority from her point of view she thought everyone hated it and she had to come back with something simpler

That's cause her stans are pop stans, they want pop.
It's like Rihanna doing a reggae project. Most fans don't really want that. That's cool for one or two songs, not a whole project.

ohhh i feel you. the sweetener hate disgusted me
people hating on successful or boarderline beats.
but i don't think thank u next is simple and basic in comparison, it just sounded more straight forward and trendy

Yeah I get it, but that’s why I think artists shouldn’t always listen so much to their fanbases regarding the sound and direction they take their music in
Most of the times stans just want the same sound from an artist or the sound that they discovered them through (ex: Weeknd & Trilogy, Travis & DBR/Rodeo, Kanye & the Dropout Trilogy, etc.)
If every artist listened to their fans 100% then there would be zero growth of their sound and zero risks taken at all, and then they would get accused of making the same thing over and over again
sweetener and my everything
Nigga this album is not similar to My Everything at all
I like the album!

I would have done something similar to TYN, but with artists she has never worked with and a bit of drill influence.
