That mission is so f***ing cool man. Rusty overclocking the cannon and the voice comms getting distorted followed by the silence and then “I wont miss”… actual kino. I need another Armoured Core game immediately.

to me this games story, world and cast of characters is 11/10 man. Its almost insane that thats what people critisized this game for. The voice acting in From games is always incredible but the main cast outdid themselves. I really think to me Ayre and Walter va might be the best performances I have ever heard. And thats not to take away from the entire cast being fantastic.

I finally get to do the 3 playthroughs after being busy with BG3 last year. Now ng+ done and I couldnt be more excited for that alie iecta est path.

Pretty much agree with everything you wrote here, the voice direction and the dialouge is perfect. I especially liked Carla's sense of humour but everyone was honestly amazing.

I read a lot of critism about the presentation of the story or the fact that they don't get to see any human faces but I love that part of armoured core; it can be a doubled edged sword since it puts a much larger burden on the voice actor but everyone in here really delivered, I think the fact that I could feel such a connection with Ayre and Walter really speaks to their performances.

One consistent theme in AC is dehumanization and I feel like having the player never see human faces to make that connection with them is deliberate. A lot of these corporations don't view these pilots as people, the player doesn't even have a name; I really feel like people made up their minds about the story from reviews about the game and decided to parrot them without a***ysing it themselves. I feel like this happens a lot in FromSoft games unfortunately.

Yeah youre right the dehumanization is a big part.

And just to widen the discussion I think its a bit unfortunate to kind of box the capabilities of storytelling in videogames into this "movie like" like cut scene focus approach. Because games are audiovisual AND interactive and armored core does this incredibly well. There is this blending of menus and ingame features like ALLMIND into the fantasy world. Characters reference the Arena, the shop or what other people say. and this ingame logic to the communication system.

And I think that this blend of systems really puts us much closer to Ayre. She is also just a wave of coral the way we are just a player outside the game. We both dont really have a body in universe and just control pieces within it. And the way she is kinda "above" the established rules for normal ingame dialogue and communication gives you a closer connection to her. Atleast thats what it felt to me.

And that bond felt alot stronger than seeing a nicely animated face infodump their dialogue to me for 5 minutes. I dunno kinda blows me away what From Software did here. Its literally using brains instead of just wasting budget

Anybody still playing this really enjoyed my 3 playthrough but I genuinely haven’t gone back to this. Still got 54 hours out of it but idk, wish there was just a bit more to it somehow.

I feel like AC6 is so complete and honestly front to back perfection.

No doubt, I would love another one. Gotta give them credit they haven’t made an AC game in like a decade and if this is their first stab at another one s*** was phenomenal I can only imagine how much better the next one would be
