Might catch heat for saying this but Beyonce.
She's one of the most mult-talented artists ever but her catalog doesn't really match up to her talent imho.
And I say this as someone who loves 4 and her self-titled album.
I feel this way about Chris Brown. he too busy trying to be a gangmember half the time to just focus on making timeless music. that nigga has it all.
Bey is unfuckwittable tho you wildin
Pshhh you just haven’t done enough d**** while you listen
There's loop-based rave type music that I really love, I'm a huge fan of old French House and that's usually a single sample + drums, but Gesaffelstein always leaves me cold besides a few songs
It's not the repetitive stuff that bothers me, I just don't think he picks loops that reward repetition, I haven't listened to him on d**** tho so you'e got me there
u old as s*** you actually lived through his underwhelmingness
Nothing wrong with being 57
lucky daye, i go crazy over any neo-soul, “trying to bring r&b back” artist but that nigga cannot sing. bro needed kaytranada to make a good song
10000%

Solange >>>>
kind of everyone if we keeping it a buck and interrogating our aesthetically rooted desires
i guess nas also, pretty much nothing clicks for me all feels pretty middle of the road guess i wasnt there at the time or something but it just never stands out the way so many of his contemporaries do even if their music isnt for me
I like the idea (and concept) of Frank Zappa more than his actual music.
Zappa is very inconsisent but immensely talented, I think I'm on the same boat as you as I love the man and like the music, but he has incredible songs (but not so many great albums).
Sheek Louch
I thought he was gonna come way harder than he did (in his solo career) when I first started listening to him

agreed
4 and Dangerously in Love is the s*** and I have respect for how she dropped the self-titled album, but the majority of her catalogue is nothing special

like it's fine its just so many contemporary works that i think are way more exciting i just find him pretty middle of the road kinda just good at everything but meh like tobias harris

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiCQcEW98OY!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-p2z8TLRNUQ!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBi9rsNF374 for me hes very consistent with several major masterpiece albums. much more an "albums artist" than a "songs artist" i think. especially since a lot of the albums really work as one whole rather than a compilation of songs (Uncle Meat, Hot Rats, Burnt Weeny Sandwich, We're Only In It for the Money etc.)
up until about 1982 i think everything is at least very good except for the brief Flo and Eddie period in 1971 with 2 live albums that are f***ing TRASH imo. so like 33 for 35 good/great albums
