Kanye after Yeezus
Drake after NWTS (I love IYRTITL, WATTBA and More Life though)
Wayne after Tha Carter 3
This works when they’re able to keep that up and make music with a shelf life that exceeds a year.
When you make a career out of making a run of albums you can sit with for years and take new things away from as you grow and listen more, it’s much more gratifying
Artists who do what you’re referring to tend to run their content into the ground, it gets repetitive, redundant, lack luster and watered down.
It’s not a rush if the album is real quality, it can last a lifetime
Yea but my point is albums aren’t the only thing that matter.
The dope freestyles features leaks and loosies that aren’t the biggest like an album are just as gratifying.
I’m just saying most these artist not judged the same because they don’t dissapear and give their fans nothing for 3 years so when the album does drop now I Gota force myself to like this and treat it as the greatest piece of art ever

No one is forcing themselves to like anything unless it’s one of these trendy hot artists everybody’s pressuring people into listening to. (Hype)
Albums matter more than poorly mixed songs and freestyles on YouTube , that’s why they’re budgeted differently, they’re judged differently. Different focus goes into them. They’re what the artist is ultimately judged by when their careers are said and done. Hits and quality of albums.. not freestyles. Nobody’s listening to your freestyles for truly important moments in musical significance.
And at the end of the day the music you’re referring to is really nonsensical gibberish that’s meant solely for fun, clubs and parties. Surface and with very little thought into what’s actually being said.
You would need to be versed in something other than that to have a leg to stand on in a discussion like this

That’s the way of thinking the label made up. Most the the greatest artist ever always said they had to adjust to the restraints of recording an album.
Artist when they are hungry and at their most raw make their way by just performing whenever enter thats live performing, writing songs, releasing them and pushing them anywhere to get on etc..
Albums are a commercial concept more than anything. There are millions of fans who will tell you their fav moment of artist are things outside the album. And idk what you mena the music I’m talking about is nonsense gibberish. Prince has over 40 albums. Pac dropped 4 albums in 5 years. No excuse now for these artist to be going 3/4/5 years dropping one album

Prince is prince. 2pac is 2pac. They’re all time greats. They can do things every artist can’t nor should attempt.
It’s no an excuse but rather a valid reason. Their music is inspired and crafted over time and many to be appreciated as such. Artists inspiration is not determined by your time table of when they should or shouldn’t create.
I’ve been listening to Black on both sides by Mos Def since I was 10. Been listening to Ecstatic since I was 20. Nobody’s forcing me to like them.. I’m not forcing him to create. When he’s ready, I’ll accept it for what it is, what it means to him and appreciate it As such.
And they’ll be more to take away from it than if he put out 20 albums in one year just to say he went on “ a run”.. cus the moment the albums suck yall say he “fell off” and move on…
This petty s*** y’all do by telling other people their opinions aren’t real because they don’t fit yours is bullshit. Lay off that.
Drake since iyrtitl which isn’t even an album so yeah everything else besides a few song isn’t it for me

I been listening to the Carter 2 since I was 10. But no other moment in Wayne career can match da drought 3 to me which is just him freestyling over beats.
But since artist show their brilliant moments outside of an album they have to get labeled a weak album artist like that in anyway diminish their artistry. My point is albums are too overstated. That’s not the only way to show the level of artist you are.
queen. highs on their album are very high and lows are pretty low too. singles are very iconic though.
A good chunk of house artists that I like imo. It's pretty rare to see a classic house album instead of EP's or classic singles.
There's a lot of genres that don't translate very well into full-fledged album-making in general.
House/techno isn't really an "album genre" i feel
If you find a DJ/artist you like, you're almost better off listening to their sets
