Can anyone else relate to this?
Music I used to enjoy affects me less. New music is generally not that interesting to me, aside from a few artists I stan, but even their impact on me feels reduced.
Some of it may come from my learning the technical aspects of music production. Producers will say they had to relearn how to enjoy music as a listener.
Music used to be my favorite thing tbh. It’s really a shock to me and my identity that I may not enjoy it as much anymore.
im sorry to hear it bro personally i can relate to music i used to like not hitting at all anymore
but my overall enjoyment of music really hasnt changed. you probably have a point when it comes to producing
I enjoy sum certain music genres and artists, I couldn't see me now listening to the same s*** I used to listen 4 years ago
Yeah this is a very real thing, man. I’m definitely not searching for new music the way I used to be unfortunately. I feel like I’ve gotten comfortable in my pocket. There’s a few gems that I’ll find here and there but not how it was like 10 years ago. It probably just comes with being older honestly.
Lack of a new cast of interesting stars.
Thats all.
Music is music its either dope or nah.

Yeah ive made this thread a few times in the past year as well, and seen many similar threads. It's not this you
These past 2 months i feel like i can enjoy music some more again, but moreso the music i listened to in my teens and that i haven't heard in a long time. Like lot's of TDE stuff in the early 10's and s*** like that also just older music in general
cant imagine
how old are you? i had this moment at the end of my teenage years/early 20s before catching a new wind.
I basically had just been through that early 2010s period where I watched Kanye peak, Kendrick emerge, Drake become a superstar, ASAP & Odd Future pop, Weeknd & Frank early runs, etc and I just didn't think s*** would ever be touched so I got burnt out. I regret this now because I missed some amazing moments during that period where I wasn't moved by anything (namely Lil Peep who I didn't discover until after he died) but yeah.
My advice is to power through. There's some really good stuff out there.
i go through phases where all i want to do is listen/find music, or a big movie kick
but yeah, sometimes i need a break from actively listening to music with intent and just kinda fall into my comfort music for a period of time
The funny part is music has evolved and gotten so much better in recent years. Early 2010s s*** sound dated.
Its just that the artists themselves back then were more intriguing and relatable
When i was a teenager my dad told me I wouldn't care about music as i got older. I tried to put him on to heavy lyricists and he was not a fan. Funny thing is the only thing that changed is that music I hated then, like Future and Thug, I've come to appreciate as much as Lupe-esque rappers. Broadening the music you listen to may help you.
i feel like it's mainly the stale trap influenced hiphop acts like Lil Baby etc that made me feel this way, but recently just been revisiting pre-streaming albums again and i kinda found that spark again and realized that music still hits just as hard for me as it did back then
Take a day to just go listen to artists you haven't before. Genres you don't listen to much.
Hip hop has become absolutel s*** but I discovered so many good underrated electronic/dance artists because of that.
thank god i'm not experiencing that s***. i wish you the best @op . just try your best to keep an open mind .

Same. Kelly Lee Owens and Against All Logic
Imagine not listening to Rx Papi, Rio Da Yung OG, 454 and Sahbabii
The forward thinkers of rap
