The average person is not into music like that. They listen to s*** they hear outside and on social media. The labels know this and are starting the first phases of integrating AI into popular music. First it's stuff like Timeless, where the reference artist vocals are ran through a filter to make them sound like the "actual" artist. Next theyre gonna be generating these songs from scratch and putting them out under existing artists names. Eventually, you won't even need a real artist to be a face for the music anymore.

I hate that this is where music is going, but hopefully this just leads to new and strengthened underground scenes in all genres.

    yup

evil spotify gonna be leading the charge

being mad about a live performance that you paid for not actually being live is valid. crying about free product you enjoy is insanely spoiled.

    360 deals were one thing
I bet artists will have to sign over their voice and likeness at some point

No one knows what the real issue is, which is that there are artists who are letting their ghostwriters rap, slapping an AI filter on there so it sounds like them, and then engaging in fraud by telling their fans that it's actually them.

They owe me their actual voice, not someone else showing up to the booth with a filter, if you're not gonna do that why bother being an artist at all, people will excuse anything these days

Because you (the collective rap fan) said swag was more important around like 2009-2010 so the end ripple effect of that is artists just being brands like Nike

Kanye and drake trend hopping is why theyve had 20 year careers and tbh this is the next logical step. Its like theyre mixing the concept of Sade being a band with the idea that Drake or Kanye is damn near a Nike level brand themselves lol

Imagine Thug just having all of YSL do takes of his album and then dub it over in his voice along with whatever he came up with. It kinda is an interesting concept. But yeah something thats getting away from the essence of rap

people are pearlclutching over bare minimum anti-AI s*** now it's so crazy. like how can you even disagree with what OP is saying. being anti-AI in creative mediums should really be the standard

Because its not as simple as all AI or no AI

Most people probably think what Carti or Ye doing is questionable but it’s ridiculous to have a no AI at all stance when it can be used for hella different things in the creative process that arent the sinister click and go type s*** yall thinking lol

like what really though? I see this argument but really explain to me what it can be used for creatively that isn't intrinsically lazy or couldn't be achieved through tools people have already

If you already against AI whatever I say is gonna be wiped away with the second half of your second sentence lmao

But im just saying, without even getting into going down a list and debating the validity of each thing lol, its silly to write off a whole entire movie with thousands of man hours of work as “ew it uses AI” because they used AI to generate unique background window glares, bricks on buildings or clouds lmao. People do that based off of an internet bandwagon when actual artists just use it as a tool to be more efficient lol

    What are you on about?

We all PAY for the product. Streaming something is usually paid for.

Even if songs were posted on a free site, if I knew they were AI there is no chance I would play them and they deserve to be criticised.

I don’t get your thought process of well if it was free you can’t complain.

We didn’t have AI in songs for decades so now why should we allow it just because it’s there?

Because being anti-AI is being close-minded to actual possibilities/benefits that it can have in music, but keep saying AI is all bad, even tho half of the s*** we have today, even the phone functions you're using now has a lot to do with AI.

we deserve better AI, at least

This is what OP should have made the thread about.

  • Most people are more than happy to eat up 50-song playlist fodder albums about nothing, so maybe we do deserve AI music

  • F*** this AI bullshit

  • You niggas dont even pay for music.

  • Then don’t listen to it

I think people have lost self respect for themselves if this is what they’re happy with.

    Remember when we had standards?

You mean the standards where we let all the egregious ghostwriting slide in hip hop
