Because being anti-AI is being close-minded to actual possibilities/benefits that it can have in music, but keep saying AI is all bad, even tho half of the s*** we have today, even the phone functions you're using now has a lot to do with AI.

whatever phone functions you're trying to compare this with is not the same thing with AI being used in music lmfao

we have a decent amount of examples of AI being used in music and they have all been absolute dogshit. someone like carti whose lyrics could be written by an amateur is using it, kanye who used to be a perfectionist in his craft is just blatantly using it in his albums and is even hiring people who are experienced in it for said albums. even timbaland who is absolutely washed beyond belief is now using it to finish his beats and make """""music videos""""""".

it just promote laziness to the point where you dont even need the artist anymore, just type out some prompts in grok and churn out as much slop as possible

That’s not how it works at all for music, you still need humans to write lyrics and perform the vocals and produce the beats to make actual decent music with AI. AI in its current form is horrible at generating music. yall need to do your research before criticizing s***

so write some bars, program a beat, etc. if yall are really about this music s*** you gotta unleash your creativity, otherwise you just a fan/consumer/etc.

even if you release music you’re still a consumer

people be trying too hard to sound smart lmao

like someone else said, if you’re not even gonna make your art yourself then why even be an artist? fundamentally it doesnt really make sense

You mean the standards where we let all the egregious ghostwriting slide in hip hop

Ghostwriting happens in all genre of music. If we can’t allow humans to come together and create songs then what are we doing?

I feel like people think I’m dissing there favourite artists who have used it.

I’m not, I’m saying whoever uses it is unacceptable.

i listened to carti album ONCE, realized it wasnt for me, and im done with it. i dont even care about AI, when u got lone and ken shooting at a higher percentage than their boss, theres something deeply wrong with how we approach music

We have video games priced at there more expensive which aren’t even completed before they’re released and fixed during its availability to be played.

Tv shows released in bulk and cancelled after a season or the quality of the show is s*** as it’s not given the proper time to work along it.

Films using green screen for the majority of its run time.

Albums being shipped out essentially being playlists where we get 20 plus songs with only half of them being listenable.

And now on top of this we have people using AI to finish products off they want us to purchase and enjoy.

    Standards are rock bottom.

AI is a very useful tool and can aid the artist in the creative process. For example: stem splitting is super helpful. generating a reference painting to see where the light/shadows should land, etc.

but using it to generate art in it’s totality sorta defeats the purpose of art in the first place.

Because music is so easy to access people can’t vote with there ears because these same songs are put on every playlist on the app and if you’re not paying attention to it you’ve just played 3/4 songs off an album which doesn’t deserve it.

    1. Allowing ghostwriting in hip hop led to this
    2. It is humans coming together still AI doesn’t create music, it just changes the vocals

You can already see itt how normalized it’s becoming and getting mad because you’re unhappy watching human creativity be replaced with algorithms. It’s dystopian.

ok so having come this far in this discourse is the issue still AI?

    no

    the issue is:
    record labels are lazy
people lack genuine interest in music
    major artists are spoiled
    money is EVERYTHING

AI is just a side effect of problems that already exist

I completely agree? And using AI is another thing to add to the list for how everything is going.
