Uh oh the Drake stans are on defense mode now

Should they have to be in a thread about Rocky

People shouldn't make non-Drake related threads about Drake and they wouldn't show up right

  • Jun 15, 2022

Rocky isnt wrong, there used to be an emphasis on being more mature and grown man

Now its youth thats being emphasized and pursued.

The difference in how a 20 year old rapper carried themselves back then vs now is very different

Can someone please elaborate what this "adolescent stage" is to begin with? Is it strictly image or content or both?

I mean...you have a whole subgenre of rap rn that's popular with many lyrics sounding grimier and more demonic than 90's gangsta rap but that's supposed to be "adolescent?"

Youngboy got songs talking about real life s*** that people can relate to and that's supposed to be "adolescent?"

If anything, there were way more cartoony music videos and imagery that was more kid friendly in the 2000's than today.

DaBaby even got compared to Luda a lot because of that.

This guy has dropped nothing but straight garbage since his debut mixtape and is only relevant because of his outfits and now being Rhianna's baby daddy

he’s been rapping bout d****, rick owens and hoes for about 10 years running he’s the wrong messenger

  • The funny thing about his criticism is that the biggest rappers in 2022 aren't young niggas lol. It's still the Drakes/Kendricks/Coles/Futures who are the biggest and all those niggas are pushing 40. Even niggas like Young Thug/Gunna are 30/29. The Lil Uzi's of the world aren't the most popping niggas in the game (if they ever were).

And if the young niggas are bothering you so much then don't listen to them. No one is forcing you to. It's just funny when you think back to 11 years ago when Rocky was one of those same young niggas that old, washed rappers would be saying s*** like this about lol.

  • Jun 15, 2022

    Rocky is a quintessential himbo.

  • Jun 15, 2022

So he’s saying rappers look younger than before? That’s like saying Jason Tatum and ja morant don’t look like how Michael Jordan and Kobe looked like back then. And his argument is kinda stupid ti Rick Ross and jeezy all came out at the same time. He makes it sound like they’re from a version generation of hip hop. And ASAP rock literally raps about nothing content wise. Him and big Sean are for guys who are like 19 years old

This, coming from the person who just dropped a single titled D.M.B. where he's rapping about s*** he was rapping about 11 years ago, which is nothing? What growth has his music ever shown content-wise? Nigga should shut the f*** up and sit the f*** down. The absolute worst messenger and the message itself is stupid.

he’s still rapping about what made him famous but he’s been more personal and introspective recently

    Testing had that

I don’t care about their being a larger variety of rap if the artists creating variety are average

And the music just isn’t as popular as it was even a decade ago.

    Illermatic

Ringtone rap showed these labels that the hip-hop space was a place that they could make a quick buck and they’ve been taking advantage of that ever since

Labels made a quick buck off rap when it went pop in the early 90s.

Now, rap is stuck in this braggadocious, adolescent space. It’s not as mature."

    Is that a problem?

Testing was still mostly about what he usually raps about, which is money, hoes, being fly/jiggy.

Because it's the same type of people who still show up to his shows
    White kids

I don't know why y'all say this as if most rappers shows are not filled with white kids, and like they haven't been for almost a decade now.

White people go to rap concerts. What do y'all think the majority crowd at Rolling Loud, OVO Fest, Astroworld, etc is looking like?

  • Drake stans truly are a cancer to music forums.
