They just aren't classic albums. By any metric of measurement. Its microwave music. Its trendy and the young kids that are online 24/7 do listen to it. Billions have been served by McDonalds. Doesn't make it fine dining.
Very pretentious comment tbh. What makes it fast food music?
This pusha t album will almost certainly have a shorter shelf life than Polo Gs last album.
What makes it lesser music? Pitchfork reviews? Hipsters not championing it?
Saba- Few Good Things
Vince Staples- RPBMH
Babyface Ray - Face
🤷🏾♂️
Buggin (vince album is top 5 though)

Oh brother… you really believe Polo G album is better than Push?
saying "younger generation's failed" is pretty ignorant and tone deaf but typical of someone like @op who used to be an Eminem stan would do.
Especially when it's mad young niggas killing s*** that aint just the soundcloud hypebeast carti wannabes.
like....yall should check this nigga out (18 years old) he definitely just f***ed around and dropped a dope ass album.

Been spinning this way more than Push’s album tbh

I mean yeah. Push’s album was great but Polo Gs was better.
Push’s album was more “cohesive” for a full front to back listen I guess but hall of fame has more songs I’d rather listen to. Especially if you include the deluxe. More emotional depth and variety as well

Really? Okay let’s start with the instrumentals. Polo G album is filled with the same instrumental loop pack half the game is using rn. Guitar/ukelele/piano loops with trap drums over some melodic rapping. Definitely NOT the same thing every poppin rap artist is doing rn.
Meanwhile Push got two of the greatest artists OAT exec producing his album with songs like LTSSTC and Dreamin Of The Past on the album.
You can cape for the modern rap all you want, I’m sure it makes you feel good that you’re a hero for the genre. But the s*** sucks, how’s that for pretentious?

I think we just come from different times honestly. I’ve tried to listen to dude but he’s really just mad repetitive and one dimensional for me. It’s just not my type of s*** imo

You could say this about any era of rap. “Oh he’s just rapping on a jazz sample over drums”
Like yeah no s*** niggas are gonna work with the sounds of their time.
Black man in America is realer than any song off this push album

Not a single one of Youngboy's "albums" was memorable or sounded different from the others. Agree to disagree.
I also hold hope that the Polo G's or YB's can grow as artists and actually get there down the road. You won't catch me hating on these artists. But this thread is a discussion about this topic so I thought I would chime in.
Being a pretentious old head is definitely not who I am.
Damn all these niggas are terrible. We really got work to do
none of them are terrible cmon
Most great albums have been from older artists in the last 5 or so years.
Artists like Nas, Push, Roc, Ka, Boldy, Benny, Conway, WSG, Jay, Woods, gibbs etc

Who is rapping over a jazz sample with drums for an entire project
The old guys are running s*** bc they consistently make great projects. And the numbers reflect that
no.
you just think the old guys are the only ones doing s*** because you only pay attention to what the old guys do

Yeah because toxic punk sounds like forgiato, which sounds like smoke strong, which sounds like Nevada lol.
Youngboy is easily more versatile vocally, content wise, and instrumental wise

Exactly, and what does history remember? The ones that stand out, not the s*** that blends in with the crowd.
Enjoy the Polo G album tho
