Rap isn’t just a genre is directly intertwined with black american culture. It’s the biggest genre on earth and it isn’t even 50 years old yet, a direct reflection of how us black Americans impact our surroundings. Disrespecting the genre is disrespecting the culture. If you don’t like the new s*** just shut the f*** up bro I hate mfs like u mentally still in high school my time was better than everyone else’s ass niggas
Rap ain’t like rock cause white people didn’t even make it they took it and changed it to their liking
Rap is for us by us. Created in the south bronx... straight from poverty stricken streets
My father was born and raised in the south bronx and essentially grew up in the get down
My mom was born and raised in Harlem...
Hip hop isn’t a genre for me this is literally the blood in my veins the bones in my body bro. So yes, I am offended and i find your claim to be extremely tasteless and ignorant.
Rap is at the most diverse it has ever been. Even in the mainstream, you got rappers talking about s*** that isn't just partying. Pierre Bourne talks about love and relationships. Future has party songs but he also has songs dealing with his past problems with d****, women, etc. Polo G literally raps exclusively about street s***. 03 Greedo and Young Nudy talk alot about the streets as well.
You got Vince Staples, Denzel Curry, Run the Jewels, even Lil Uzi Vert who talk about a number of things outside partying lol.
And even if you don't f*** with the mainstream, there's just so much going on in so many different areas within the genre. Theres the underground s*** you mentioned, there are still older rappers like Lupe Fiasco, Ghostface, Black Thought, Jay Z, etc. still dropping. Theres more soulful/consciousl artists like Big KRIT, Smino, Saba, etc.
It is just dumb to say you can actually outgrow a whole genre. Especially when Rap has so many different sounds and styles now.
@illegalnecessity delivered the most painfully potent ether I have seen on KTT
