ok im not gonna sit here complaining about the current status of rappers and s***, because most people on this forum can agree w me when i say that the current state of rap is oversaturated with lots of artists that arent very good..

however im beginning to wonder if im just outgrowing this genre to its full entirety.. almost all the guys that dudes post on this forum who are supposed to be "up and coming" all sound the same to me, theres like no diversity anymore. it just seems like the average consumer of rap music seems to be getting younger and younger and dudes who are like 15-17 are now blowin up as opposed to like 10 years ago when it was like 18-20 and even older was the avg age of rappers..

speaking on the subject matter too its like almost none of these guys that are poppin like that (besides the little underground conscious rappers like westside gunn, mach hommy, freddie gibbs) only use this music for partying.. why is everyone so obsessed with partying 24/7 now? like i cant understand where 95% of everyone else's time is devoted to?? i cant fw 808 and hi hats with autotune screeching when im driving to work in the morning?? it's not relatable in the moment..

now im not calling out these guys for being s***ty entertainers.. they know how to attract an audience of kids, but its like when it comes down to the actual music part it just seems like its severely lacking with diversity..

im all for progression in the genre and dont think everyone needs to be on some boom bap type government s*** 24/7 but like at the same time theres just no dudes who are really really are touching on important subjects and expressing themselves like they used to.. especially during such a crazy time in our country too.. shouldnt there be more of this?

and another thing that just doesnt seem right is that artists "clout chasing" through various social media platforms incriminating themselves to doing stupid ridiculous s*** to attract attention from younger people.. its such a disingenuous thing to do.

rap culture is like at the most toxic ive ever seen it.. so that just makes me seem like i'm out of touch and too old to enjoy it anymore.

(check this song out) this is what i would love to for everyone to hear it.. dude speaking some facts in the lyrics and making a catchy ass song

think it goes without saying that rap is a young person's game.

I can easily understand outgrowing certain types of rap, or certain rappers though

    Rap goes in cycles tbh.

Last decade we were in the "ringtone rap" era than that transitioned to the blog era (drake kendrick cole etc) Than the soundcloud era came. Something else is obviously gonna follow that.

You don’t have to really. Just stop listening to what’s being pushed and don’t listen to younger artists. That’s the problem with rap now the influx of >18 year olds that get popular when they’re teally not ready at all

yeah and thats cool w me, but its like theres so much childish nonsense that gains traction nowadays as opposed to dudes who really try to express themselves and spread positivity and what not

    i agree. great point cookies.

i guess maybe if anything were all outgrowing ktt..

I’d say I’m at a point where I’ve outgrown it to an extent. I haven’t listened to a “new artist” since uzi and carti came out. Hell, I barely listen to rap at all now. It all depends on the person, I guess. Every moves at a different pace.

not even outgrowing rap its just it's the easiest genre for trash kids to try and make music in. If no the easiest maybe most accessible and popular music atm.

When you see s*** like that corny ass backpack kid making "rap" "music" you know s*** going south

@Zaywop made a great point tho, it could just possibly be the era were in right now as well and artists have found ways to get famous by being overly negative.. hes right tho, something good may come in a few years finally returning everything back to a baseline
