  • I knew it was bad but I was playing the Lupe and Royce podcast while Lyft ride sharing and when people found out it was Lupe in it, their reactions were “does he still make music?” or “oh yeah he had that one album and fell off just playing Street Fighter”
It’s sad too cause DROGAS Wave and T&Y were classics

i wonder how Lupe sees it, since he seems content with "missing his moment" and being more a part of the underground than mainstream hip hop

since Drogas Wave was such an accomplishment for him. obviously that doesn't make Atlantic any less s***ty, but I feel like it worked out

    It was partially Jays fault.

Jay was gonna take a position at Atlantic and persuaded Lupe to sign under him with Atlantic but ended up going to Def Jam instead and the rest is history.

They barely even promoted it or pressed CDs for it
I mean, CDs were a dying medium even for 2015, but still

Honestly tho, even with the pop music pressure, Lupe could still make really good pop music like with The Show Goes On

there will always be a sour taste of not being able to fulfill your creative vision the way you imagined it. lupe adapted well post Atlantic, but commercially drogas wave was barely pushed.
