Is the government having direct influence on national news not bad? Fox News has already been dismissed by most as conservative propaganda, but what happens when an organization such as CBS News and (if Paramount won) CNN starts doing the administrations bidding as well? CBS is already making that turn and CNN would have as well.
The fact that Trump apparently had direct influence on getting Rush Hour 4 greenlit showed that the government would’ve had direct control over what we see as well.
Are those two things not absolutely terrible?
I don’t like this current deal either at all, but at least the government isn’t going to tell Netflix “make Superman deport people” or some s*** like that.
Trump is going to be out of office by the time the deal goes through. And Paramount is still a publicly traded company. They can’t just become a propaganda arm for a conservative regime when their first priority remains being beholden to shareholders to make money

That’s the point. Now it is minuscule. But if Paramount won and took over, they didn’t want just the studio, they wanted everything. So instead of one news propaganda arm, there would be two. And CNN still has massive reach outside of just ratings.
Bari Weiss hosting a town hall with Erika Kirk is just the beginning. I see Paramount as an arm of the administration that will try and infuse conservative ideals and culture into every sect of the media. To the point you’ve made about Trump being out of office by the time a deal would close, that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t pivot to JD Vance being the influence til 2028 (and possibly longer if he wins that election). Vance is Peter Thiel’s guy. So EFFECTIVELY Larry Ellison and Peter Thiel would have influence over the media and that would potentially include films.
This whole s*** is dystopian either way. Just now idk less brainwashing will occur?
