This is another important point; like yes we wanna preserve the theatrical experience and aren’t pleased with that being compromised, but there’s still work to be done in improving the theatrical experience in order to incentivize moviegoers proportionate to today’s demands. All theater screens need to be bigger and in better formats.

This ultimately helps smaller films too as theatrical immersion wouldn’t be reserved for big blockbuster spectacles - the screens not being big enough for today’s audiences makes the blockbuster aspect of a film outweigh the immersion of a theater screen and bigger screens balance that out

i get what you're saying but i was specifically referring to resisting the "you will own nothing and be happy" philosophy that's lowkey behind a lot of streaming services. ik it's still capitalism in one form or another, but with physical, at least you're not feeding into the normalization of corporations controlling your access to art at their whim, even when you pay to "access" it. most of the time when you buy a movie digitally, you don't actually own it, you just own a license to view it that can still be revoked at any time.

i feel this is even more true when you buy physicals from indie/boutique labels that actually appreciate film as a medium itself instead of larger studios just churning out product.
