We're really going to get the worst of both worlds scenario after all lmao

Netflix gets to kill theaters and physical media, Paramount gets to own CNN and help Trump complete his goal of having state run media

Anything’s possible but I just don’t see all the left leaning news networks suddenly turning into Fox News if paramount won the bid lol

Unlike all the stuff netflix dude has said about not valuing theaters all we have to go off of for that narrative is poor widdle jimmy kimmel getting suspended for less than a week lol

    You sure about that?

edit: Also lol you realize Paramount has already completely shifted CBS and its news division right? They hired that right wing lunatic Bari Weiss to run editor-in-chief immediately. Now we get Erika Kirk town halls

More people need to realize though that Paramount will still buy CNN because Netflix's deal has nothing to do with WB's legacy networks

David Ellison donated a million dollars to Biden’s campaign last year. Not denying he’s a piece of s*** but he’s doing whatever it takes to cozy up to Trump to get this acquisition through. If he really cared about CNN that much he could just buy CNN and let Netflix have WB

I agreed initially with this….But I’m not actually sure Paramount will care for just Discovery. They might just recalibrate if they lose. The networks weren’t the point of this.

This whole thing happening now was predicated on Paramount rushing to attempt to buy WBD specifically before the split happens. They’re the only buyer that’s avoided mentioning interest in solely WB or Discovery.

WSJ mention Paramounts goal to become a major player against Netflix and Disney as the driver. They just acquired networks and Discovery is pretty weak on its own

Monopoly? Not exactly. But it’s breaching a lot of that antitrust convos which will dominate discussions the next year as they face regulators, congressional hearings, foreign countries and get sued by various parties

It’s a big step in the trend of streaming consolidation. Netflix already won the streaming war anyways, and now they own a competing service. They say the plan is to keep WB in tact as an asset company, so HBO Max will probably continue as usual for the next few years as Netflix morphs into whatever it’ll ultimately be in the long term. Prob will start of with inevitable bundles.

Lot of questions will be likely still be unanswered even during the first couple years of them owning it …. Assuming it closes. This is too big a property to consolidate quickly

This doesn’t come down to just David, especially when you need Trumps son in law and Saudi money to make it work

Paramount post-Skydance merger has already shown us what things look like. Hire who Trump likes to run news, cancel shows like Colbert and green light films he wants. This is alongside a huge layoff run, which one of my friends managed to survive. Many who were there before already are gone.

The whole company’s culture has shifted, and can’t just be reversed because they’re over the acquisition hump. This is just how they are now

His father is the largest private contributor to the IDF and the CEO of Oracle, a major government contractor. He's backed Trump for a decade. David Ellison made his case directly to the White House as to why Paramount should win the bid. It's not even private collusion.

Everything you listed was done just this year to cozy up to the administration in preparation for this acquisition. It’s not like Skydance has a history of producing right wing propaganda and they’ve been making movies for 20 years

I'm a both parties are bad type of guy, so it's going to be really funny seeing neolibs soon switch to "fake news" if Trump does take over CNN through this deal.

I'd rather Netflix bury theatrical in a ditch than see these Draculas win. I'm cool I'll rewatch Terminator 2 or something

Can't wait for the next Israeli blockbuster, but it'll be in theatres so it's all good

Acting like Paramount gives a s*** about saving theatres or should be taken for their word get real

Paramount literally works off theatres lol. Their streaming is ass lol

Netflix winning won’t stop the Ellisons from getting CNN if they really want it. If anything, it’ll just make it cheaper for them

Their value will never be higher than now

Their stock gonna drop drastically when Sheridan (the guy creating all their hit shows) contract ends and he walks next year
