Overall, pretty disappointing. I wouldn't say it was awful, like some people have here. AoT will still go down in history as an all time great, just like Naruto did even though it had a mid ending. Felt like I read Code Geass again at the end, lol. I don't think this should take away the rest of what Isayama did with the series though. Still fantastic, up until the final sequence IMO.
Yeah I think it's because many people saw Eren pulling a Lelouch as to why it's underwhelming. If Code Geass had never happened and this ending was more "original" I feel like the perception would be different but hey, you live with it.

Just how it is.
I do agree people are being goofy as hell saying it ruined the series though.
Like I said, most of what Isayama did was fantastic in my opinion, and it should (and hopefully will) be remembered that way.
People will compare every ending for the next couple years to GOT if it ain't borderline perfect or unarguably satisfying/fitting

curious how anime only people reactions will be, manga readers will have a year to sit on this

Which is unfortunate because the GOT ending was genuinely awful and those comps would just be off-base and really disrespectful 9 times out of 10 lmao. Like D&D put in actual effort to f*** up all the momentum and hype GOT had by just throwing bullshit together...in a shortened season no less
people are also obsessed with shows giving them some life lesson to base their existence off of. Dislike or like something all you want but chill out with that s***.
True but don’t see how this applies that much to AoT. What kind of message was expected from this story for most readers?
Isayama have no shame
Aot 7/10 as a series might go up to 7.5 when i do a reread but for now rip bozo
so eren wipes out 80% of the human race but because he planted some memory in all his friends heads that explains that it was to bring peace everybody is like "omg you're a hero"? F\*\*\*ing christ that's stupid

I guess It applies to AOT because serious themes are explored in the final arc so the resolution to that has people overthinking based on what I’m seeing online
I don’t think it should apply but I’m just rationalizing why some people would think it does
I don't think this is the worst ending ever made, I obviously need to watch Code Geass to properly understand the extent of the disappointment, I just think he left way too much to interpretation. S*** felt to me like....
I still dont know what to think lol
this is like how I guess niggas was feeling about NGE before they bullied dog into making End of Eva and the rebirths
