in the episode when it’s revealed reiner and Bertolt are titans, Bertolt tries to kidnap ymir and a soldier who has their face hidden. when bertolt transforms back to human form he is only carrying ymir. the other soldier seemingly vanishing. the mystery soldier to my knowledge hasn’t been talked about again even +20 episodes after.

without spoilers can someone just say yes or no as to if this mystery soldier ever gets revealed

He only took/ate that guy to get his 3D maneuver gear, that guy is completely irrelevant and never mentioned again

oh wow ok that makes sense. they emphasized his abduction when it happened so i assumed he was another double agent. they never explicitly say it was just for his gear. thanks

They don’t say it but it’s implied by the fact that Bertholdt didn’t have gear on before that happened (since he was one of the ones stuck at castle utgard) and after he emerged he had the gear on.
