Smacked VoodooThe phenomenon behind the Avatar movies really is interesting. They kill in the box office meaning people are clearly going to see it, yet I don't ever hear or see people talking about it. When they do the general consensus is "It looked cool but was underwhelming and not worth seeing again." Like the energy around the movies never match the box office success.
I'm assuming that it's performing much better globally?
listen i love avatar a lot -- but there are some f***ing LOSERS in all corners of the internet and live and breathe this s***.

Based on what I have seen in the trailers and what I have read/watched in reviews, I simply have no interest in seeing the movie. I'd rather hold onto the ~$30 it'd cost to "truly experience it how it is meant to be seen"

How was Babylon?
i liked it. it's one of the most energetic movies i've ever seen. but i will understand why someone will hate it. it's kind of all over the place and loose, but i think it's pretty special and might end up being a cult classic with a little time. music is incredible, as expected.

Interstellar is the one movie I give that "You gotta see it in theaters, it's once in a lifetime" nod to. Mostly because I still remember the story and characters from it.
I need more from my films than just visual spectacle. If that's all I'm getting from Avatar I'm better off just smoking my DMT and watching my Windows Media Player visualizer.

I feel you. Interstellar one of my favorite movies of all time but Avatar 2 is definitely a landmark blockbuster film. CRAZY experience in the theater. The type of movie that has filmmakers gushing over it like how tf did he do that

This seems kinda like a dead end discussion tho since you have Interstellar that chance in theaters and it lived up yet you’re forgoing Avatar 2 (for whatever valid reason - not judging it’s your choice)
You won’t know how the story actually hits you until you see it. Like imagine someone basing if they’re going to see Interstellar in 2014 based on reviews lol…they might skip it too

Well I went into the first Avatar blind and was disappointed so hearing that Avatar 2 is essentially the same as the first just with better tech doesn't get me all that excited

Very positive was the same thing for Avatar one. But people don't go crazy or fan over it like any other franchise. A lot of the discussion over the past ten years is that no one remembered the main guy's name.
