He was cast for X3 in 2006, missed out on appearing in that and Origins Wolverine (2009), started working on a solo movie around 2014, showed up at SDCC 2015 to promote it, and then it was in straight development hell until 2019 when Disney cancelled it following the FOX purchase.

Prior to Deadpool & Wolverine, he described this experience as traumatic and said he couldn't watch MCU movies anymore, so I'm happy he got a second chance in DP&W and made it to an Avengers movie.

if you're willing to watch a mid movie then The Marvels, it actually has an important connection but I have a feeling they're gonna ignore it cause the movie bombed.

Probably won't have much of a connection except for the character being present but Shang Chi is a good movie worth watching, same director as Brand New Day.
