I think they revealed how they’re gonna do it back when RDJ was announced. He said “New mask, same task.” Tony’s task was to protect the world with his suits of armor. Doom’s task is to protect his world in his own way. Steve and Thor should touch on this when they see his face and connect the dots.

Doom isn’t the villain. He’s just the person they’re fighting. In SW, Doom has the most effective plan of survival, because his plan works at the Final Incursion. The same will happen here.

I see a lot of people saying what you’re saying (no shade), and its a little exciting and a little frustrating that IW/Endgame being a two parter has entrenched in the public’s mind: the villain wins formula. I’m excited to see the public’s reaction to how the movie ends.

Man there’s a Heat Hanna vs McCauley/Dark Knight Batman vs Joker level rivalry between Reed and Doom in a movie before this. I couldn’t imagine how much more attached we’d be to this story with that going into it but oh well

If they had planned Doom and if they hadn't been pushing two Avengers movies for 2023-2026 they could've had a generational set up via a Fantastic Four trilogy and/or him being behind a bunch of other movies' events.

If it hadn't been expensive ass RDJ he could've played a part in First Steps where he acts too good to help Reed or secretly plots to take Galactus/Franklin's powers. Oh well.

A properly established Hickman F4/Avengers/New Avengers adaption would have been the twice the cultural zeitgeist the Infinity Saga was. Not saying you need all the Builder and Infinity storyline, but a properly adapted plan would generate unthinkable hype.
