There's a point to be made in the fact none of the best rappers have started in the last 10 years.

Yeah they’re not the new ATL. The new ATL is basically Migos, Future and Thug. Niggas wanted to be like THEM. lmao

Future and Thug actually pretty great music

never thought about it like that tbh .. I think of aging performing artists with my singer brain.. it gets hard to sing in the upper extremities with the same ease/freedkm .. start getting a lil sluggish with the agility and runs, certain limitations start to manifest after 40 for most vocal fachs

I guess this limits emcees a lot less, due to there being a different focus

some of the best artists historically made masterpieces literally in their 70s and 80s.

this is particularly true with writing and visual art.

there are people who have been painting or writing longer than hip hop literally existed.

its too young of an art form to see what people who started in it young and are getting older will do with it. I mean actually older not mid 50s.

if its anything like any other art form, which it is, there will be fanastic art made by people with more life experience and time spent mastering their craft.

its not like sports at all.

the only thing is, is that young people’s music will always be the future and needs to be respected. both need to coexist

But when everyone else copies them it’s not good. They were terrible influencers to the genre.

    Well

  • That's the discourse you're enmeshed in through social media.

It's really easy to listen to the new Roc Marciano and Action Bronson and have a nice day. The new Wiki is shaping up to be good. We got a Black Thought and Mach Hommy record on the way. If you want music like that, it's always out there.

  • drake stans will see this thread and unironically comment here trying to relate like

  • Sir Real

most online hip hop discourse is conducted by people who have zero respect for hip hop or its history to begin with. It’s nothing more than a social signifier to them.

Sure there’s always been the inter generational jabs and whatnot but that was largely premised on (mostly) healthy competition. Where we’re at now is just outright disrespect and disdain for the culture as a whole

    💯

  • knew this was bout to turn into a "shit on the South/Atlanta" therapy session lol.

MAYBE New York aint focused on dissing each other for a whole decade/allowing 50 Cent to just tear the city apart. MAYBE New York has a Gucci Mane/Birdman like figure that actually fostered new talent instead of trying to compete with the rest of the field. MAYBE New York doesn't have rappers trying to copy what the South was doing and maybe be f***ing original lol.

MAYBE the West doesn't let street politics and gang activity stop themselves from uniting and not putting themselves into a corner where the only nigga from the West representing on a commercial was a bipolar sex-pest. MAYBE Blu doesn't go insane and self-sabotages s***.

MAYBE niggas need to stop putting everything on Atlanta.

"Go 'head and diss it while real hop hippers listen, started by Afrika Bambatta so you and your patna gather your thoughts
-a nigga from the same region yall been s***ting on itt that yall put in yall top 5 lol.
