This was really good, haven’t been as creeped out in a long time as I was during
Dinner Scene
&
Captain Clark
Kane killed it
set design def insane esp if all that s*** was real and not like cgi or whatever
I think blender was still used for some stuff but the set is real for sure
The handheld footage was the scariest parts, s*** deff had me bracing myself to jump lmaooo especially cus we didn’t know anything that was happening
But once again, once the reveal happened I deadass was taken out of it like “that s*** look goofy as hell, id kill that s*** instantly”

“Something’s missing”
Those are the two words I kept circling back to when I’m thinking about this movie. Not in a bad way, more so with the themes and the characters. Memories tend to miss something. People tend to miss something, physically and sentimentally. Then when you look at a generative AI image, something is missing. The emptiness and the, let’s say, quirks of the Backrooms reflect that. That depth plus the intriguing lore and the creepy imagery make for a very satisfying debut from Kane Parsons; who, at the age of 20(!!) shows he has a strong sense for directing. The ability, at this age and experience level, to direct heavyweights such as Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve in such an abstract concept such as this to this amount of success is astounding. It’s not perfect, there are some pacing issues to be ironed out but man I’m impressed.
4/5

20 years old?
Yeah this whole backrooms thing is his baby. Came up with it during Covid when he was 14-15, used blender and rendering technology to create a web series about the lore etc.
I look at this movie and Obsession and think that I should’ve locked in on filmmaking at an earlier age bro
It’s only now that I’m working on stuff and making connections
But that being said I’m only 29 and I still got time
The handheld footage was the scariest parts, s*** deff had me bracing myself to jump lmaooo especially cus we didn’t know anything that was happening

It's great for and enough even for a scaredy cat like me
