You can have an album that no1 likes and still have records people remember.
I dont think 808s was universally panned tho
"Late Registration is basically College Dropout 2.0".
LATE REGISTRATION IS JAZZ & ORCHESTRAL INFLUENCED WHILE COLLEGE DROPOUT IS SOUL & RNB INFLUENCED I DONT KNOW WHY ON THE SITE NAMED AFTER THE MAN IS THIS HEADASS TAKE ONLY ON HERE AND LOOKED AT IT AS A BAD THING EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE LITERALLY WRONG AND LOOKING AT IT AT THE MOST SURFACE OF SURFACE LEVEL ECEN THO THE SONICS & SCOPE ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT
LR is a portishead album
agree with the first two but nah uzi been straight trash for 3 years but he hid it well by barley releasing any music. 2020 really showed this dweeb is finished making good music

I mean i definitely exaggerated when I said no1 likes since basically not a single album exists like that lol. 808s wasnt received well by hip-hop though. That's where MBDTF comes from. And if my history is correct, the album came out before the taylor swift drama so it's not like we were biased against Kanye.
808s being a classic is one of the dumbest narratives ever. Kanye is always going to impact rap because hes f***ing kanye. Nobody liked that s*** until drake said he was inspired by it
Nobody liked that s*** until Drake said he loved it
But also
Amazing, Heartless, and Love Lockdown were all huge smashes
Please make it make sense if ur just gonna say something so outrageous

I’d try out the next one but if ur out ur out I guess, really bizarre that people just gave up after 2017 cause it wasn’t his old style anymore, have been plenty of great songs since
Idk if this counts as a narrative but I think people tend to conflate rapping ability with subject matter.
I.e: A mediocre rapper rapping about social justice and equality will be held in higher regard than a good rapper who focuses on the materialistic or violent side of hip hop
The Uzi s*** really is a dumb take. I mean I’ve broken down the reason EA was average compared to his previous work. And his leaks between 2017-19 was his best music ever he was making and never dropped because of leaks. Crazy wen EA first came out I called it mediocre and said it sounded rushed or done in a months span and niggas thought I was hating. As a Uzi fan I knew what was in the vault before those weird ass leakers got to his head. Good point to mention @LilBillVert
The biggest bad music narrative as of recent was niggas calling melodic rappers post 2016 mumble rap and not having any skill whatsoever. None of them niggas actually mumbled. Yea it was over saturated with one hit wonders and 1 year career mediocre niggas but the ones who did stand out and maintain a consistent career demand respect. People thought just because they wasn’t doing lyrical s*** or rapping with substance that it was garage. That sub genre of rap took the most skill since its “fast food” music you have to have the ability to consistently be able to drop hits after hits of catchy fun songs while still sounding fresh and not boring. Anyone who refers to it as mumble rap is a racist
just bein real, I'm real, I'm really, really, real
What makes real a miss?
Everybody liked 808s from the day it came out. It expanded his fan base immediately and immensely.
Anyone saying otherwise has memory loss or wasn’t there.
On a musical level, Kanye was about as close to universal acclaim as you can hope for up until Yeezus, then the divide started.
Because he said the word real in the chorus of real
the chorus is horrendous
