that said we should put this mj vs prince thing to bed. the only reason we compare them is because of their rivalry. when you get down to it they made very different music and very differently from one another. its just conversation fodder
Tbh I don't like to comment on this since I heard Prince say it was their story and not for anybody else, especially non musicians, to weigh in on who's was "better"

I'll admit I enjoy "Off the Wall" very much so, as well as his Jam & Lewis collaborations. :)

Mmm.
They've even worked with Meshell Ndegeocello!
It ain't that deep man. They're being compared because they both came out in the same year, that's about it. They have similar production elements because of this imo
It's just a horrible comparison. Nobody is making it deep. They sound absolutely nothing alike whatsoever. The year they both released doesn't matter because Bad took years to make... Sign O' The Times didn't. It took one and was a double album on top of that. Bad had completely different intentions than SOTT did, etc. Prince wouldn't have ever followed Purple Rain with a SOTT sounding album just like Michael would've never followed Thriller with a Dangerous for example.

Technically, SOTT, too, did take years to make, but I see where you're coming from.
