Gale is a bit whatever at first but he grew on me by act 3

Also he stopped asking for magic items to consume somewhere at the end of act 1. I never learned why but after like 4 times he just stopped needing them.

Finished the Underdark, just hit the Mountain Pass.

Really hoping that that and Act 2 will be long enough to carry me to Patch 3 next Thursday (since I’m assuming it’ll be focused mostly on Act 3 performance issues/bugs).

Depends how much you're playing for the next week. You can rush through that in a day if you want.

But if you take your time and really dive into the content you might be able to stretch it.

I didn't do the mountain pass but there's one dungeon in act 2 that took me a while.
