Obama (president at the time) called him an a****** after the tailor swift s*** and all radio stations/ tv shows (the main source where artist got their plays and recognition from at the time) stopped playing his music.

    Then he released MBDTF

He would have to 100% focus on music for like 5 years to get back to that level

TLDR lol I know but bear with me.

I get what people are saying about the Taylor swift incident comeback, but this is very different. You also have to factor in the fatigue that the average music and product consumer would have by 2022 when it comes to Kanye versus what a decade plus ago.

To many, sadly, Kanye is a spectacle before he’s an artist. Maybe not just consumers too, maybe also for contemporaries. And there’s also just an easy alley oop he gives folks on the left to get easy social media points off of reacting to whatever Kanye says. On the right, you have folks who can use what he’s saying to have a bigger voice amongst people they normally wouldn’t reach with their talking points. How many of us would really pay close attention to Candace Owens or Tucker Carlson without any Kanye spectacles? Maybe some, but I don’t think many of us would. I’m not even talking about the validity of anyone’s perspective but just how people use Kanye to posture their platform. He’s a great source for trauma merchants. You can argue Kanye may be one in of himself.

That’s not to say he will be dead in the water completely. He’s a visionary. A lot of culture musically and fashion wise is fruit off his tree and it’s undeniable. But when you have a younger generation that can give you some of Kanye’s vision and be easier to work with and less controversial, it’s an easy decision to go with that, especially when you’re not the second or third place brand (like adidas/gap were when they brought him on board). your brand is strong enough that it doesn’t warrant a Kanye partnership. You can partner with those he’s influenced artistically at this point.

I really am not seeing a story arch to full redemption like MBDTF. I don’t think he’s buried though either. I think there’s enough people who think he’s an artistic genius and can support his fashion and art in a successful manner, but maybe not at the Nike/LV level he’s hoping for. Branding is as much about optics as it is creativity and talent. Think he’s gonna be in a weird spot for a minute in terms of mainstream presence. He kinda already has been for a while already. Usually at this point of a goat’s career, you’re probably not as hot as you were when you were young, but the iconolatry is what gives you social capital with younger generations. Don’t think the brand partnerships on huge levels will be there for a while. I hope he’s set himself up well with a game plan and whatever capital he’s garnered with Adidas to go fully into Yeezy Brand. Bc Kanye doesn’t strike me as someone who’s just going to go out to Pasteur and be happy with what he’s achieved and call it a career.

    Damn, Ye becoming Howard Hughes

  • I also will say, I find it hilarious that a dumbass like NORE, who I can honestly say, idk if he even understood the gravity of bringing Kanye on, got so much critique and backlash (rightfully so), but adidas confirmed app is sending me multiple Yeezy Adidas shoe drop notifications this week and it’s just business as usual. S*** is weird. But it does speak to how important his shoes are to that specific company that they’re just trying to wait for the storm to pass.

Ye does have an opportunity here to start a real discussion about black / jewish relations in 2022 and the misinformation that has led him and many others in the black community and specifically the entertainment industry to feel the way he feels. That of course would require him to accept information that doesn't fit his narrative which would be pretty hard to do.

Antisemitism has been on the rise everywhere and I've personally seen/ heard a lot from some of my own black friends and family. I've already seen at least five of my facebook friends reposting his tirades with captions like "maybe he trying to tell us something they don't want us to hear". I try to stomp it out wherever I can but the internet is spreading this stuff like wildfire.

The issue is doing it in a way that seems genuine and not just please give me my sources of income back vibe. He would also have to deal with people thinking that he "gave in" or that "they" made him do it ala Nick Cannon.

It's really insane how big of an opportunity he has to turn this around. Also insane that he's so far gone he'll have to lose it all to even get close to doing anything like this.

Kanye pushed Balenciaga over the hump as the hottest luxury brand in the past year. Am i wrong? When was the last time they were more relevant than LV?

If that article is true it’s just evidence that Kanye ruins everything he touches fashion wise. Balenciaga went from luxury brand to a Instagram streetwear brand for yt boys that have Kanye as their iOS wallpaper
