    It was bound to happen

As soon as he mentioned Jews it was over

Even 50 alluded to this recently

It's actually the first time he's gone against a specific group though in such an intense, repetitive, obsessive, obvious way. I would like to think the reaction would be the same if he'd gone against Muslims like this.

I also think if anti-semitism is taken more seriously by western media it's not because Jews are so powerful or whatever. It's more to do with whiteness, the news pretty blatantly put more stock in white or white passing victims. It's especially obvious in coverage of foreign affairs. So I think that's more about the media (even the liberal media) being racist in terms of what it chooses to cover/care about than Jews being all-powerful.

Bruh, not even a return to form/"MBDTF" on crack album can fix this...

Dude literally power f***ed his own mud flaps...

I think a lot of people will still listen to his music and can't really take icon status away from him

But some of the corporate structure that supported him his whole career is going to be difficult/borderline impossible to get back.

If Ye comes out with an album in 6 months though, even independently that's still selling

People actually believing this will hurt Balenci more than Ye

Or that Demna would eave Balenci for Ye

    get a grip lmao

Kanye is a pretty big deal at Adidas but I don't feel like he's made that much of an impact at Balenciaga unless I'm missing something?

Balenciaga biggest moments in pop culture or sales have nothing to do with Ye.

Even with Adidas Kanye may have brought hype back to them but they'd still be able to get great sales figures without him.

around the time they started being associated with kanye and Kim tbh

That's a part, but they've been getting big outside of Ye and Kim for sure

I mean I don't follow fashion closely to know exactly when things happened

But what I'm more talking about is Balenciaga being very culturally relevant for example it was being mentioned a fair bit in people's lyrics before there was the Ye association

I also just don't think it's widely known about with casuals. People associate Ye with Adidas in a way they don't with Balenciaga. Even the GAP thing felt like a bigger deal or a thing people were more aware of. Also like Adidas, GAP had obvious struggles they were turning to Ye to fix. I don't think that's the case with Balenciaga coming to Ye.

There was a segment of Addias' fanbase/demo that was falling that Ye fixed he's not done anything close to that for Balenciaga, he's a footnote in their history

Adidas is way more accessible than Balenciaga. This is such a bad take lmao, of course Ye attaching to the more accessible company to the general public is going to be a bigger impact than a luxury brand. But Ye has still given Balenciaga more press and exposure in urban markets and culture relevancy compared to other huge designer brands than they’ve probably ever had. Could you name me one iconic Balenciaga piece before Ye started rocking the croc boots?

TLDR: this effects them more than Ye. Ye was probably spending more in their stores than he was earning from them anyway

what exactly do you think their partnership achieved lol

also just because something isn't accessible doesn't mean it doesn't have massive mainstream impact. like Birkin bags rn are massively mainstream in terms of impact but very inaccessible

Literally the thing with Bernie logo probably did more for Balenciaga than any item they did with Ye. People just don't associate Ye and Balenciaga with each other that much imo. I'm sure lots of people who know Ye and also know Balenciaga don't know they even work together

Yeah man it sucks these companies won’t do work with someone who stands for bigotry and white supremacy!!!!

What happened to free speech !!!!!!!

You’re right of course, and to clarify I’m not saying it’s an unjustified position to take (and certainly from a business pov it is), I just don’t like the way they’ve done it - irrespective of what’s happened this month, ye (and by proxy via Kim) has done a huge amount to promote the brand, the relationship with Demna is a long and close one, so to cut ties this coldly (not even referring to him by name) sucks as a fan of them both

  • Oct 22, 2022

Nothing productive came from this partnership

If that article is true it’s just evidence that Kanye ruins everything he touches fashion wise. Balenciaga went from luxury brand to a Instagram streetwear brand for yt boys that have Kanye as their iOS wallpaper
