Hi. I'm currently writing a story about a musician for uni. I'm a musician myself but my theory knowledge is bad. Just to make sure the story is as "authentic" as possible I wanna make sure I get this bit right.
Anyone know the musical term for a little flourish in a rhythm?
For example if I had a 4/4 kickdrum where the drum played on every beat and before the 4th beat there was a little floursh before it like:
Bum bum bum buh-bum
Like a quaver I guess? but I feel there's a better term
I think the term is sports if I’m not mistaken
It depends on if it’s rhythmically in time
If it’s a hard, say, sixteenth note before that would just be a little syncopated rhythm
But if it’s a real quick almost ghost note, you’d call that a grace note
thank you! is this a type of syncopation?
Yeah, it’s more ornamental than anything. Like a little decoration to the note.

brilliant, thanks
Mmm
Not true, some things are aquatic
those things are still Sports
Aquatic = Sports but Sports ≠ Aquatic
I believe that's how the formula goes

I see where u are coming from I agree that there are aquatic-sports
all sports are potentially semi-aquatic
but no way does aquatic = sports
